Will chk tht out nxt time.Use your words carefully. The trem event sounds as if all were bending and leaning crazily which was not the case.If you remember then of the total 20 people only 4 people went for a spin and that too a max of 3-4 times.
Agree to wht you mentioned, but as i mentioned earlier there was gravel on the other side of the lane. I also remember tht Niranjan and MG instructing everyone not to get into the wrong lane while taking corners when we had a break by the dam, and we were sticking to it.Moreover using the correct line while going through these ghats will only improve riding skills of everyone.Cornering is all about taking the turn at maximum speed through the correct line in your own lane.

I am not pointing fingers at anyone.I am trying to put a point that if someone is spreading gyan on cornering or trying it out , they should first understand what the correct line is and staying in their own lanes. It is of paramount importance specially in this area.Originally posted by MG_Biker1806 View Post@niks-Its very easy to point a finger without knowing the full story.Except Inder all were slowing down at that corner. And its incorrect to term it as practise session as we had all stopped at that point for a break and few people(4 of them were taking a spin or two).
Every now and then (as sagar pointed out)at mutha/lavasa you'll find people coming out of blind turns at high speeds into your lanes which is a big risk for everyone. And this is probably one of only reasons why I haven't been to lavasa/mutha for more than a year now.I don't want to crash because of a adrenalin pumped stupid fool who doesn't care how he's riding.
Moreover using the correct line while going through these ghats will only improve riding skills of everyone.Cornering is all about taking the turn at maximum speed through the correct line in your own lane.
It would be highly appreciated if fellow xbhpians would give "correct line and lane" more importance than even the "protective" riding gear.

I was also trying not to give examples(for that reason i was not replying to his point earlier) but then i had to mention that it happens elsewhere too and he doesnt pin-point at others...!! That was my whole concern of mentioning that example/instance..!Originally posted by MG_Biker1806 View Post@inder-I could have given the Nice road example but that will not help the current discussion and will take it to a different direction.Someone has raised a question and I was trying my level best to answer it even when the person has a negative impression about me.

Same here, and I do stop for the old, handicapped and children. I do not cut lanes, ride in my lane and show turn signal indicators well in advance. I ride with my Helmet, Jacket and Gloves 365 days a year.Originally posted by prajwalkashyap View PostIn the city, sometimes, u r forced to go out of ur lane due to multitude of reasons. but when the road is empty, I dont see any reason for riding/driving wrong way. Don't just assume I break rules, because I don't. And I try my level best to follow rules, except when it comes to physical safety. How many of these do u follow anyway?
...
EDIT: I always stand behind the white line, always follow lane discipline (except when a veering scorpio wants to get me under his wheels). I always indicate when turning. I used to stop for pedastrians till an ambassador and an auto and a matador rear-ended me in seperate incidents, and I NEVER EVER jump a signal. Your turn......
And as you pointed out, there are times when one does break the rules...accidentally. Such cases are treated as exceptions and are pardonable for most of the biking fraternity.
If you did not know the entire story, perhaps you could have really asked for the whole story. I am sure that any rider in our pack would not have done something like what you see in the pictures if there wasnt anyone marking it safe for him and others.Originally posted by prajwalkashyap View PostI do not know the whole story, neither does the whole story come tumbling out from the pictures. All I see is that the rider is cornering dangerously from the wrong side of an empty road. That's it. Good that everyone followed formation riding and in proper spirit but that's besides the point.
Anyway...it is not in the best interests of this community if we keep arguing about it...nor will it reflect any kind of camaraderie on our part.
I invite you to Pune to join us on one of the rides...maybe you will see the picture.

@Prajwal-Yes mod is just another word.Your last reply suggests that you answered most of your own questions.I too will say the same thing for most of us who were there in the group.I won't say that everyone who joins xBhp are the most responsible riders but after joining xBhp the never ending learning curve starts.
I know that you are one of the most sensible rider in Bangalore and I don't need to ask it to anyone but I was just trying to explain that no one is politically correct.
If you say that I'm defending the group then so be it because I know that as a group we didn't do anything wrong and I stand by it.There were around 5-6 gyan sessions during the ride and if you think that after this small round no gyan was given then you are wrong.
I though agree with your last line.

I didn't wanted to bring the zigwheels example beacuse I didn't wanted to compare ourselve with anyone when I myself feel that what they were doing was not correct.
@niranjan-I could have given the same example but the list is endless.

I was not at all trying to defend myself there...was just trying to tell you that...such things do happen at other places too...but never saw you telling all this at the other threads....why did you sideline all of this there...!!???? Why are you being partial towards your actions...just bcoz they are your friends you will not tell them anything...and tell us who are strangers to you...Originally posted by prajwalkashyap View PostI edited my previous post to answer all the questions.
Besides, I dont, even for a second, condone the Speedchecks done on public road. Being done in Bangalore doesn't make it more right than anywhere else. And it doesnt justify anyone else emulating it either. So how does me belonging or staying in Bangalore have anything to do with this? Its downright illegal. So tell the mods about it. There is even a thread on it. But was that ur way of defending ur actions? Oh please!
Prajwal
And, i saw your edited post and your answers to the questions that niranjan had asked....what is the authenticity of that...?? how can you prove that....?? Do you have valid proof for it..??
So does that mean you will not say anything against them....if you don't take in any of such activites...!!!Originally posted by prajwalkashyap View PostBesides, I have decidedly justified my point by staying away from all forms of drag meets that have ever been held in Bangalore on public roads. That's my action on it. What's urs?

I edited my previous post to answer all the questions.Originally posted by inder.cool View PostOhh....pretty obvious questions for following the traffic rules..!!
And lets see if he is able to answer all of these with a positive reply...
And, btw Prajwal i think you dont remember that most of number of speedchecks and drags are held in Bangalore(where you stay/belong to)..and all are done on NICE ROAD...if i am not wrong..!! So, isnt that a public road with traffic on it..?? This is just one of the examples which i could mention here...Plz look into your belly first and then point out fingers at others...

Ohh....pretty obvious questions for following the traffic rules..!!Originally posted by niranjanvaidya View PostBTW...do you always stand behind the white line on traffic lights? Do you observe lane discipline? Do you always issue turn signals before turning? Do you really stop on the road and give way to the old and the handicapped? or for that matter to any pedestrian crossing the road? Do you always alert the police if someone else jumps a light?
Strange questions they may be, but isnt this all written in the handbook of law?

If my post sounds too harsh or is not required here then the mods may delete it..

I personally feel that Lavasa is a fantastic place to ride. It is arguably the best patch of road in Maharashtra as the fast sweeping corners of Mutha and the technically challenging hairpins of the Lavasa ghat offer the best of both worlds. Moreover the road is in excellent condition, wide and with proper marking. No wonder it is frequently visited by Bunny and Co. to conduct their bike tests. However, this destination can be very dangerous if you do not respect its turns and the safety of other commuters. I visit Lavasa quite often and it really hurts when I see newbies as well as good riders ride carelessly on these beautiful ghats. There are quite a few rider groups in Pune who ride to Lavasa every weekend and although most of these riders are dressed in the best protective gear, they go up and down the ghat sections (especially Mutha) at ridiculous speeds, cutting other commuters on the road, leaning at 80kmph into a blind corner and that too from the wrong lane. Such incidents infuriate me beyond control as it is because of these "RIDERS" that the villagers settled between these ghat sections have started attacking every properly dressed biker heading to Lavasa. I don't blame the villagers at all because quite a few of them have been hurt during accidents with bikers who were riding irresponsibly. So I request every biker here on xbhp who is reading this post to please ride responsibly, wear the proper gear and have utmost respect for other commuters and villagers on the road. I myself practice on these ghats every other weekend. I take corners at speeds that allow me to put my knee down. But I NEVER charge into blind corners and also make it a point to stay in my own lane even while I am leaning. Infact, you can lean a lot more if you stick to your own lane and the right line. Lavasa is indeed the closest thing we have to a track here in Maharashtra. Please ride in a way that other bikers too can take advantage of the fantastic ride that Lavasa has to offer.Last edited by SAGARR_46; 01-02-2009, 05:08 PM.

I cannot comment on your perceptions but it seems that you did not either follow what we had written or you skipped them.
As MG points out, all were riding in proper spirit and with all the rules in mind. To add to it, let me tell you that not A SINGLE RIDER went out of formation on the ride.

Lets stop taking it beyond what's required. Perhaps the mods know better. Or perhaps not.

Physiologically speaking selectively breaking rules is every individuals right, think a bit how many times a day you break the law (knowinly/unknowinly).Originally posted by prajwalkashyap View PostThen perhaps u can take these pictures to the nearest police station and see if they accept ur "explanations". Or perhaps we can put these up on Times of India and caption it "What decent bikers! They made sure there was no traffic on the road before doing this. So its ok if everyone else also did it."
Traffic or no traffic, u just CANT break rules. Period. Selectively breaking rules has become every Indian's birthright i suppose!
I definitely expected better than this from you (and being a mod). Or perhaps I expected too much from the xBHP mods.

Chk out the busy video on zigwheels and chk his line. He was driving insanely than wht we were on more speeds tht you can imagine, and tht they were filming it for a magzine (Breakin the laws with each mt travelled on the busa).
Wht we were doin there was a leaning event and everyone was experimentin with ppl to watch on either side of the road. It was well organised and managed tht too we were present at the spot for less than 15 mins. The other reason if u remember MG and all tht why no one was on the first lane was due to the amount of gravel there............

I do. I really do ride at very low speeds. And more than a dozen other riders from Banngalore will vouch for it. So does that now increase the magnitude of rule breakages?Originally posted by MG_Biker1806 View PostSo you ride at a maximum speed of 50 on highways.Yes that's the speed limit for a bike on highways and at places it is 30.
I'm not trying to prove or defend but the way you pulled police and media in the picture is totally uncalled for.You should see the so called public riding/driving on that road. All were going crazy and for them "rule" is just another word. And you talking about police and media. They are the one who break most of the rules. No one is politically correct, not even you.
If you had pointed a figure towards me with someone riding without helmet or without riding gear in case of cornering or breaking signals I would have accepted it as my fault.
You and I are better educated riders than most of the general public using that road. What then is the difference if u r unable to leverage it on public roads? If "Rule" is just another word, then a "mod" is just yet another word I suppose.
The point in bringing in the police and media is to tell u that ur defence for the "session" was pathetic at best. And yes, u r trying to defend it.
This is not being politically correct. This is being educated enough not to allow these blatant biking ridiculousness on public roads just to satisfy ur adrenelin charges. There are tracks designed just for that. If wearing helmet and riding gears are the "only" rules u follow and moderate, then it looks like u r not a very educated rider/moderator afterall.
At least, as a forum mod, be bold enough to admit ur mistake and take these pictues off the forum. They dont deserve to be publicly viewed. Or they could be viewed as "things NOT to do on a public road". But caption it suitably.
