Hero Cycles India Cyclothon – Pune 2011’ will have participants from all walks of life, including amateur cyclists, cycling enthusiasts, working professionals, housewives and school children. India Cyclothon typically has a lot of glamour and festivities associated with the event. InPune, the Hero Cycles India Cyclothon will for the first time have contestants of Femina Miss India-2011 riding in the presence of the current winners. The Cyclothon aims to reinforce a cycling momentum in the city and establish that few other activities can match this on the fitness and environment-consciousness parameter.

‘Hero Cycles India Cyclothon – Pune 2011’ has four categories open for all participants. The Amateur Ride - 20 Km and LG Green Ride – 10 Kmpromise to be fun, non-competitive rides with similar routes but different flag-off timings. The third category is the Corporate Ride - 20 Km, a non-competitive ride for corporate employees and encourages mass participation. The fourth category is the Junior Ride – 9 Km, a fun, non-competitive ride for children in the age group of 8-13 years (to be accompanied by a guardian). The assembly point for all categories is Range Hill Grounds, Range Hill Road. In addition to these four categories, the Elite National Race – 50 Km is a special ride for professional cyclists. This is a competitive, by-invitation-only category..

But cycling with Miss India contestants should increase the number of cyclists and accidents(oops!!)
