There is construction going on in Kolkata for the metro corridor so roads are half occupied by construction companies, and on the extreme left of each side of the road no parking boards have been put up,yesterday while coming home I saw several cars parked in front of the no parking boards, one guy was just parking and was waving his hand showing others to go past him, traffic jam was obvious,i saw some space in front an auto and just stood beside that carwala(45+),here how the conversation goes:
Me:Are you parking you car here? CW:Yes! Me:*pointing at the no parking board* Whats written there? CW:Yes,I know other guys have also parked behind me Me:If they commit a crime will you do the same? CW:*uncomfortable* Yes Everyone around us were watching us Me: Do you that because of this traffic jam has increased? CW:Yes I know*as if i care* Me:That is why our country doesnt progress because of you people *pun intended* CWS:*shocked* Whaaat! I zoomed away! ![]() Moral of the story: Verbally abuse karo, physically nahi!

On 2nd June 2011 (2days back), in Bangalore.
At a busy yet very small intersection, where the a small street connects a busy main road (Oill mill road meets the Lingarajpuram Main Road - near Amruth Theatre) a guy (not sure if he came by bike) gets beaten up by a duo (husband and wife) not sure of the reason although. The husband and wife start beating the t-shirtguy, traffic police stop them and seperate all three, the victim is in pain and not able to even stand up, and traffic piling up. SITUATION WORSENS ![]() The husband not satisfied with what he gave to the kinetic guy, goes for a second round and starts thrashing him again in public (in front of atleast 30-40bikers and 4traffic constables!) and within seconds goes completely out of control and hits the t-shirt guy sitting in pain on footpath with his helmet (full face helmet with visor)

My world changed from smoke & 2T to ECM & 4 joke!!
|
Coming from Adyar, I spot this blue R15 without registration plate who comes very close to me to sneak through between car & median. I stopped my Rx & waved him to go. He was in a disbelief & then moved.
After Adyar signal, I just kept my usual speeds & could notice in the RVM that he was chasing me. That really irritated me as I didn't want to street race. This went on all way upto a signal before Porur (roughly about 10-12 Kms from where it all started) where we caught up at signal. I started the conversation with an intention to put up his street racing & here's how it went... Me: Is it your R15 or your friend's? He: Mine Me: Did you read the owner's manual? He: Yes Me: Do you understand that the new engine shouldn't be revved beyond 5K or something? He says, his vehicle is race tuned one & I was like I knew this guy was a typical poser!!!By now the signal was GREEN & he signalled to pull over. He said he was a 600cc track racer (but was riding zigzag & street racing) & asked me if I was rider & if I knew any technicals of R15. I said I'm a responsible rider & showed him my Rx saying that I built it at home with my own hands. May be that infuriated him probably, he started asking if I knew what was riding in track, says he's a professional racer in 600cc segment, shows his track riding license. I asked him if he's using a 165cc or 150 cc cylinder & he says its a 150cc race tuned engine & started speaking in abusive language. WOW!!! When did YMIS started making track tuned engines & sell them!!! At that very moment, though I was little annoyed, I shrugged of thinking, I just met a POSER & moved on. Another 1 more Km, it was Porur signal & after which I couldn't see the POSER. I'm glad I didn't get provoked with his abusive language.

The best way to avoid road rage is to control your emotions on the road and forgiving others for their errors on the road.
The point is, if they keep on repeating their errors on the road, they will get punished by 'the law of averages' sooner than later. There is no point in getting mad at them. The sensible thing to do is to try to save your ass from all possible mistakes people around you may commit AND try to keep yours at a minimum. The way I do it is.. I don't get mad at people who overtake me dangerously at high speed invariably cutting me off.. I assume they are in a big hurry and promptly let them pass. Because It is not road rage if somebody wants to ride their Splendor at 95kmph.. It is however Road rage if you want to get even with that fellow on your 'more powerful' bike. I don't get mad at Pedestrians who stall in the middle of the road / don't pay attention to the road while crossing it... This is because I have firsthand experience of crashing into one and know how much bigger headache it is to crash into a pedestrian.. than say.. head on with a truck . I personally would prefer the truck solely because if you happen to read the Motor Vehicle Act you would know that If you happen to survive the Truck crash, at least you wouldn't be looking at doing jail time in your immediate future. Next time you spot a confused pedestrian.. slow down / stop. I don't get mad at Car guys who bump into me from behind at a traffic intersection as long as I don't fall due to it. Because I know there could be stronger / more people inside the car who won't think twice before giving me a thrashing. I wear steel toe boots (Available for a thousand bucks @Liberty Showroom, M.G. Road Pune) on my daily commutes in traffic so that I don't have to fight with the uncleji driving his Ford who happened to stop his Front-Left wheel on my Right foot. No screaming, no fractures, no pain, no Drama, no Road Rage .If people want to street race. (believe me I get this one a LOT... especially after my trip meter for the day reads 600km+ ) I let them win ![]() If I see a bloody road-fight/accident.. I call the cops and hang around till they get there This... contrary to what Hindi Movies tell us, is not as long as they show it to be. Certainly worth the wait if its a matter of life and death..I ain't no saint either.. I make mistakes too.. But that is the 1% of the time I am not paying enough attention. But, after having experiences of my own and reading around here on xBHP.. I have learnt to be wiser in such situations. This is the reason.. Even though I own the car... I never endorse behavior like shown in this Ad As a policy to avoiding Road Rage in the future.. Swear if you want but Never raise the helmet visor.... They can't fight you if they can't hear you. Go a step further if possible and flash them a smile (the Gandhi way).. Maybe they will get embarrassed this time and avoid repeating their folly remembering your smile .
