Default Help Needed: Fitting a P220 Headlight inside the P180 fairing

Hey Everybody,

The reflective coating in the existing headlight on my P180UG3 got burnt off (there's no silver portion left... it looks completely yellow from the front now) because I had fitted in an AM white-bulb in it... err.. it was fitted it in a way that it wasn't normal (Long story... lets cut to the chase, shall we ); and now I have to get the whole assembly replaced as it seems I have no alternative solution to the problem.

Now, I've always been wanting to combine the projector headlight from the P220 with my P180-UG3, without having to use P220's bulky fairing; now seems an opportune time to try out this experiment.

In simpler words, I plan to:
a)
take out the complete headlight assembly (keeping the existing stock P180UG3 fairing in tact), and
b)
house the headlight assembly from the P220 inside the P180's fairing.
The only questions in my mind are, can it be done? And, if yes, then how easily?

Now I am (sort of) well-versed with the headlight assembly in the P180UG3, i.e. I can open it up, change all 3 bulbs, indicators, fiddle with the wires, take off the entire assembly etc. by myself and then put it all back again without any glitches. However I have almost no clue of how the P220's assembly is fitted/housed.

Could someone please be kind enough to answer the following (assuming the first paragraph gets a 'Yes' ):
a) Is the P220's headlight assembly, 'longer' as compared to the P180's? In the sense, would I have problems with it protruding outside the front of the fairing?
b) Is there a special bracket to hold it on the P220? OR does the bracket only hold the fairing in which the headlight is fixed in the P220?
c) What kind of changes would be required to the wiring/connections for this mod? I assume that since we've got separate bulbs for the high and low beams, the existing bulb holder from the P180UG3 would be useless here. (Correct me if I am wrong please.)
d) Would one 35/35W bulb in each projectors be enough?
e) Has anyone done this before ()?
f) An approximation of the cost involved, including i) the P220 headlight, ii) Fitting it in -brackets/bolt holes et. al., iii) Wiring.

Any help with this experiment would be appreciated.

Well, the assembly costs nearly 4k bucks! You will need new holders (if the assembly does not come with it) and 35W with projectors will be dim. You will need 55W at least.

Hey, umm... I am not sure how the round headlamp would look on my bike especially since I have fitted the tank-scoops (like the ones on the P200, and the new P180UG4 -- BTW I had fitted them MUCH earlier than Bajaj thought about giving them to the P180 ).

Any ideas on how it the setup would look? Hey drvmtm, you mentioned someone using an 'extra lamp' on a P150. Is that dual-headlamp kind of setup? Could I see some pics if they're available please?

Thanks again for your help and please do keep the suggestions coming in.

Hey, BTW, isn't there a chance of the digital meter getting stolen if I get rid of the fairing? I've seen people discuss that somewhere around here but couldn't find the thread.
