Default Front froks of honda unicorn being replaced by fz16's

hello,
I own a 2007 model 2nd gen Honda unicorn i had a small accident weeks ago and the front forks are bent little bit and the forks are being damaged. The mechanic told it would be better if they were replaced.

I have replaced my headlight with a round ones for more muscular look .... so now when it come changing the forks i wanted to know if i can install fz16's front forks onto my unicorn to give it more muscular look.

i)how much does a pair of sorks of fz16 cost
ii) And is it okay if the forks are replaced and does this require lot of time to be spent in grease and oils in order to get it done ....

Thanks.

You could.. with extensive modifications.. but what feedback i have gathered.. the FZ forks look fat... they are not that strong when it comes to performance... They also bend easily.. Best option would be to stick with Original forks.. get the inner tubes and oil seals replaced..

YES - Always stick to the OE.
@@JD - Oh!!! boy is it not that strong? A friend of mine had fitted FZ's fork in 350 very recently; Reason - the mech said it was better than his stock 350s fork. I've not seen the bike since he has changed, but it went in without much mods I guess.

^^ the kayaba forks are the best for the RD... Though yes they are way too soft at the front.. but that can be sorted with a thicker grade oil, or stiffer springs. The FZ forks were very impressive when i first saw them, and ideas of a on-off roader started popping into my head, but a lower ground clearance than the R15, and weak front design cancelled that. This has been confirmed by a yam engineer as well.

As Unicorn has 18" wheels, I think the fork length of FZ also matters !!!

I would say better stick to stock. And have peace of mind.

almost any current forks are better than the rd forks (if thats what you mean by the 350)
lets face it, the rd forks have been designed in the 1960s.

and no, even the manufacturers can goof up sometimes. you have to realize there are only a few people designing any given component of a bike, and they can make mistakes. more likely than that is better technology may have been too expensive at that time.
sometimes its worthwhile changing some components to better ones from other bikes. but you need to make sure its really better than the thing you are replacing.

go ahead with the fz forks if you want. personally, i dont think they will make such a big difference and you might need to use the fz rims to fit the disk.

Could you please list the 'extensive modifications' required. I was also thinking of FZ forks for my bike because HH forks are embarassingly skinny. But main reason is I want to use FZ rims. I never though FZ forks would be weak. Maybe soft but not weak as was the case in some Pulsar model where forks were weak and tend to break couple of years back I think.

Before you go ahead with fz's shocks, do consider R15's and 220's as well......

Makes sense and would be worth a try. Any advantage over FZ's?
