Default Carburetor for Royal Enfield Bullet 350 and Electra UCE

Hi All,

As per Royal Enfield website, the Bullet Standard UCE has "Micarb VM 24" carburator, whereas Electra UCE has "BS29 / UCAL".

Can someone throw some light on the difference between these two carburetors?

Reason for asking this question is - I am about to finalize between Bullet Standard UCE and Bullet Electra UCE. I have liked the looks of Standard more than that of Electra.

I also know that Electra has Electric start and Gas filled Shock absorbers. Frankly, I do not care much about the gas filled shock absorbers and the electric start; I am ok with Standard for that.

Is this BS29 / UCAL carburetor way better than Micard VM 24?

One more thing - the dealer here says that the carburetors on both Electra and Standard are same (however RE website says differently).

PS: My location: Pune, Maharashtra

Best regards,
Anand

the basic difference is that the BS29 is a CV carb ( constant velocity ) and the micarb is a normal slide operated carb.

Benefits of the BS29 - Better throttle response, better mixing of fuel/air, more efficient.

Benefits of the micarb - simpler in construction/cleaning/maintenance, and cheaper ( much cheaper ).

I think all the UCE engines are coming with the CV carb only.

Only problem that i have faced is that the mechanics are not ready to open the CV carb fully ( remove the top diaphragm and slide ), and then clean it. They simply clean the jets, diffuser, float, needle etc. Over a period gummy deposits slow the response of the carburettor, so it should be cleaned properly atleast once every 6 months.

I own a RE thunderbird which has the BS29, so i service it myself ( the carb that is ) at home.

Default Thanks for the reply

Hi,

Thanks for the reply! I appreciate it!!!

I was a bit confused because as per RE website the standard 350 UCE is still showing up with Micarb carburetor. The dealer also told that Electra and Standard have the same Carburetor... May be the RE website is not updated.... Not sure why the discrepancy...

Even if it is Micarb for Standard UCE, the performance of the motorcycle would be comparable, right? I mean it won't be much better with UCAL, isn't it?

Anyways, I think then the decision is pretty straight forward for me ... I will go with RE Bullet standard 350 UCE...

Again, thanks for your explanation!

Happy thumping!!!!

Best regards,
Anand

Default All 350 CC Bullets now coming with UCAL BS29 carburetor

Hi All,

Since there was a discrepancy between the RE website and what the dealer was telling, I had written to Mr. Sachin Chavan from Royal Enfield.

He has clarified that Bullet 350 UCE also comes with UCAL BS29 carburetor only. i.e. Electra UCE and Standard UCE have the same carburetor.

With this, the decision is quite simple for me- It's gonna be Standard 350 UCE (unless my kid likes the looks of Electra more )!

Cheers!
