Default P180 UGIV-Mysterious Self-Start Problem! :(

Hi!
I have a Pulsar 180cc, Crimson Red, UGIV bought on 1.1.2010, clocked 17K.

I have this weird problem with the bike. It started happening a 3 months ago.
one day I started the bike with the self-start. It didn't. I tried 3 times, but still, it gave back no positive response. The Self kept on going without the engine kicking in even once. Petrol was almost 8 litres. usually, when you push the self-start, the RPM needle moves a little bit around 500rpm, and when the engine ignites, the rpm needle revs up when we turn the throttle. But in my case, the rpm needle remained still.
Now, I showed to a local mechanic, who took out the spark plug and saw that there was no spark. I had BlackCat security installed. He advised me to remove that. I agreed. Still the bike didn't start.
Then pulled out the petrol pipe and said that the petrol might have been clogged.
miraculously the bike started.
i took the bike to Bajaj's authorised service station near my home, in Rohini, Delhi.
The service guy there asked me to get rid of the petrol lock i had installed since the day I bought the bike, as the cases of petrol theft were on an increase in my locality.
It had been more than a year with that petrol lock, and I didn't think of any reason why would it give any problems NOW! Its a mechanical part, not an electronic or electrical part that might fail.
Anyways, I still allowed him to get rid of the petrol lock. The bike started.
Again, after a month or so, the same problem. Tried self-start for almost 10 times. No result. Local mechanic. He opened up the bike fullly. Removed the petrol tank and everything. Nothing happened. When he did put back everything, the bike started miraculously, yet again!!
Such incidents repeated with me every now and then for the past 5 months now..
Sometimes the bike started after I switched off the ignition and let it stand for about 10-15 minutes. Sometimes, it didn't.
Recently, the Bajaj authorized service centre guy asked me to get the rotor coil changed. It costed somewhere around 1600rs+taxes. I got it changed, with a heavy heart, of course. (i am not the one with deep pockets, )

Since then, the problem vanished. I was satisfied with it.
but then again, a couple of weeks ago, the problem surfaced again. I was fed up now. SERIOUSLY!

Sometimes the bike stopped midway into the journey too. The RPM needle used to go from 4 or 5, to ZERO in an instant..
Everything made me MAD!
My friend suggested me to boggle the bike like a scooter.
I was so enraged by this behaviour of this bike, that I vigorously boggled the bike from left to right while it was on its center stand.
VOILA! The bike started.

Now whenever that happened, I boggled the bike, and it started.
Then I took this bike to the same Bajaj Service Center in Rohini who changed the rotor coil. He said he would check, but that problem shouldn't come now.
I got the bike back today, and believe me, from the morning, till the evening, the bike stopped 5 times.. twice in the middle of the road, and 3 times on red lights, while idling after I rode the bike at speeds exceeding 70-80kmph.
This comes to me as a surprise as I have spent so much on this bike. And still, no service centre, or mechanic could find any solution to this problem of mine.

Please help me out on this, or atleast guide me to the right spot.

i was tuly fed up with this, and was about to sell off the bike for 45K. But then, it was my hard earned money, and I didn't want to give up on this bike without a hard fight!

please Please please Please....

ahh...the 4-5k rpm and then 0 pblm eh???
Hmm I see, well dude just check your spark plug alignment. At times the threading out there goes upside down(happens wen you forcefully or with excessive presure screw the spark plug in)... remove it get it cleaned with sand paper and while fixing it back go slow on it, turn by turn, also clean the spark plug chamber with WD-40 or zorrick.....and check!!!
The same thing happend wid me after the bajaj SVC guy installed them in wrong manner.

Sounds like the Ignition coil is malfunctioning here. Get it checked through a mechanic. Else check the spark plug cables or have you tried changing the spark plugs??

i too think that problem lies somewhere in electrical ckt. , but just to be sure, first get your carb cleaned, also check if there is any water in petrol tank.

these two things, once eliminated, focus on electrical part.

I thoroughly got it checked from a Bajaj Authorised Workshop.
But there seems to be no current in the spark plug itself. Though the battery is fine, charged up properly. But there isn't any spark igniting through the spark plug.
Spark Plug is fit comfortably there..

The Bajaj Authorised Workshop guy asked me to get the Ignition Coil (or is it called the Ignition Plate?) changed.. for Rs.1600/-
he said, that there might be some problem with the electrical stuff like the CDI or something..
I got the Ignition Coil changed, and even had it tried with another CDI, but the response was the same.. for the past few days, it doesn't start! Its sitting idle at the authorised workshop in Rohini..
Sometimes it starts up, but as soon as you kill the ignition and try starting it again, it doesn't!!

As I said, MYSTERIOUS!
