2. visibility should increase with projector 3. IMO even with an HID you'll have to use projectors, unless you want to blind the oncoming traffic. BTW, I was also planning to install projector, plz let me know the costs involved, a PM would be very kind of you.

1. Is an HID bulb is direct fit in the headlamp of any bike of the same watt? Let us take an example of Hunk. Can one simly remove the present bult and can fit the HID without any modification? 2. Is it very bright and thus it will blind the oncoming traffic? 3. What exactly happen one use projectors with HID? 4. Can one have diagramme of wiring for HID with projectors? 5. Which are the good brands and the cost? 6. Will it not void the warranty of the bike? Any other adverse effect? 7. Apart from HID, is there any other way to improve lights/vision. 8. What is all DC set up? How it is being done? Expenditure? Will warranty of the bike effected. 9. What is RR?

2. HID used in normal headlight reflector disperses the light and blinds oncoming traffic, hence HID are better suited with projectors. A 35 watts HID is roughly equivalent to a 100 watts halogen in brightness. 3. Projectors uses reflector and powerful magnifying lens to project beam. There are many after market projectors around, most are poorly made, some are sheer junks, while you may find some that are good quality. Depends on how much you pay I guess. 4. There is no wiring in projectors, you simply plonk in the bulb in the projector. Wiring is only required for the ballast to your battery and switch. You will find diagram in HID pack. 5. HID or projector? 6. 7. Some uses higher watts bulb + higher amps battery. Though you should check your reflector before toying such idea. Higher watts bulbs tends to burn plastic reflectors because it generates more heat. Your next question may be, what about HID? will it burn my reflector. No. As Most HID are only 35 watts. 8. See this thread, you will get a lot of information Convert AC/DC bike to ALL DC. 9. Last edited by kaynmantis; 12-15-2011 at 05:35 PM. Reason: URL corrected |

8. All DC setup means all electricals on your bike would be fed from the battery directly & the stator will only be used to charge the battery. Depends on what kind of setup you opt for, if you follow most XBhpians it'll cost you around 2k, my costed only 200 [:P] 9. A RR is a regulator+rectifier, it regulates the voltage coming from the stator to around 14.5V (max.) & also converts the A.C. current from stator to D.C. rest have already been answered.

my 2007 Discover 135, full D.C. with stock headlamp https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...type=3&theater pic of working circuit https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...type=3&theater My custom RR has following features: * Indicator LED's - green if RR is working, red for blown fuse * Fuse - 7A fuse, to prevent damage in case of short-circuit * Heat sinks - 3 heatsinks to dissipate heat * 100% water-proof, thats because once water happened to flood the under-seat while washing, still the inside of the circuit box was dry (it had been designed to be water-proof) * Capable of delivering around 120W EDIT: for those who intend to run full DC but are don't have enough to spend can follow these options. * Float your lighting coil. Buy Pulsar 150/180 UG4 RR unit & install it in parallel with your current RR, reroute the lighting coil wires to your new RR & add the output terminals to the battery directly. Add a custom D.C. changeover circuit. (capable of running a 35W halo/HID whole day) Approx cost - Rs. 600 * Buy a Avenger 180 stator, float its lighting coil. Buy Pulsar 150/180 UG4 RR unit & install it in parallel with your current RR, reroute the lighting coil wires to your new RR & add the output terminals to the battery directly. (capable of running a 60W halo/HID whole day) Approx cost - Rs. 1200 * Rewind your current stator, take full wave output, buy Pulsar 150/180 UG4 RR unit, remove your current RR. Connect RR output wires directly to battery. (capable of running 35W halo/HID all day) Approx cost - Rs. 1200

Hi Mates...
I have recently installed "Bike HID Kit H4 Xenon Light-8000k" I mean i asked the seller and he showed me this as labeled on the box pack. As per the seller it is supposed to produce very good illumination, however I am not happy with the low beam. The high beam seems to be bright, but when I switch it to low beam, I dont get much confidence to avoid the potholes comfortably, rather I have to ride slow... Any advise? One possbile reson could be unbalanced fixture, but I ensure that it is fitted the way it should be and also double checked after it is installed. Need some serious advise here! Thanks in advance!! :-) |
