Hey Guys,
This is my first post here.. I own a Yamaha FAZER, June 2011 model. I'm facing a small vibration problem in my ride! Whenever I ride solo in my bike, bike is all cool except for the rpm range between 4000-4500 rpm. I get a kind of Vibration only in that rpm range, while bike is all cool below and above that range! This problem doesn't come when I ride with someone in pillion. Have clocked 5600 km so far. What could be the reason for this? |

Check the foundation bolts. Tighten them with the correct torque
Check for play in panels which might be the cause of vibrations being felt on the handlebar or footpegs etc. Use double tape to get rid of the play.

Anyways, thanks for your suggestion. I'll try it! But as I'm new to the biking community, pls dont mind me asking about some basic terms. What is the "play" you are mentioning, how to get rid of it using double tape? |

Handlebar vibes are usually coming from the fairing (transfered to the T, and then to the handlebar)
Play is some movement in stuff that essentially shouldnt move. For example, a loosely connected panel. When I say play, I mean it has more gap for it to move in some manner it shouldnt! The double tape is used to fill this gap and ensure that the panel wont move. You should check the visor, the fairing, the speedo for any 'play' You might want to also check if your steering is tight enough..

^+1 to that
Resonance vibes is probably the right answer... But then in my bike I have noticed that the RPM changes sometimes with respect to the vibes. Initially it was exactly at 4200rpms. Then it decreased to around 3700rpm. And then lately my bike was in storage for 45days. After I restarted my bike the vibes came in at as low as 2000rpm. Now again with normal riding the vibe come in at 4200rpm as before. Also one thing I have noted is the vibes RPM changes mostly after I rip my bike, like take it to 8500 or 9000 rpm or upwards of 100kmph. And once I had done this in neutral gear and the rpm where in the vibes came in changed instantly. Had it been resonance, this wouldn't have occurred right? Anyways am at a loss to explain this. If some one can shed light, I would be grateful. p.s. No loose panels in my bike except the speedo/tacho transparent plastic which makes a transient sound when i reach the particular rpm. |

they might be resonance, i agree, but if it is upto the level of uncomfort then do check out the points what @satyenpoojary said. Fazer has a big fairing with a lor of possibilites of lose ends. tell me one thing, have you ever crashed you bike and got the front fairing fixed??
even i do feel minor vibes in my fazer, but i dont think thts coz of resonance sort of thing... otherwise its smooth... one more thing, check if the weights at the end of your handle bar are properly placed. they may be a reason for excess vibes.
