Dear all

I am expecting my thunderbird in May, as expected, I am really confused about the mods and accessories needed (Are they really needed at all?) to get moving with the new bike.
please suggest basic things needed to start the journey with new Royal Enfield

Dude .. one small suggestion :
You might be reading a lot of stuff in here .
But believe me, you dont need any kind of modifications as of now.
First get your bike , understand her . try to leave with it. Dont do any modifications first. Just ride your bike for a couple of months .... This is a lot different bike compared to other bikes.

yah one thing you can change is the head lights to Philips Xtreme 60/55 ....
U dont need any kind of modifications for this. Just u need to change the bulb.

TBTS as it is an excellent bike. No big modifications are required.
If u aren't satisfied with the exhaust note as it is very soft(but soothing) as compared to other bullets, u could change it to an Indore silencer or some other. But keep in mind ur fuel efficiency will reduce by around 5% on changing it.
As surajit pointed out, headlamp isn't its area of excellence and if u are into a lot of night riding, especially at places where there isn't much lighting, better change it.
The tyres may seem very thin, but if u are a moderate rider who isn't planning to race on the streets, they are more than enough. But braking, be careful, and there isn't much u can do about it.

Have great fun thumping from the 1st second u are handed over the keys!

ulb. it was goin gud for some daz. but one fine evning i found the light has startd 2 flicker a bit, very nominal, though visible n den after some daz wen i lukd at the reflector, it had bcome very dull, was almost misty in colour n den the light output too decreased. the reflector too had develop burnt holes coz of the xcessive heat produced by the higher wattage bulb.
so my question is dat is the stock reflector really gud enof to handle d higher wattage bulb? n is the battery gud enof to light the bulb coz in my case the light had started to flicker a bit

I really dunno man. But as far as i have heard, whenever u change the bulb , even the electricals need to be compliant with it.

You dont need to change the electrical wiring, but you need to change the reflector now ..... go to any motorcycle accessories shop, and go for a better reflector , that can withstand the heat ..... its easily available in the market

I am not sure about the size, but you can try the classic reflector . The classic reflector comes with the 55/60 bulb, so the reflectors are better once .... u can go for it ....

okay, thanks man! Will tell this to my cousin who has TBTS. Btw even the Classic's headlamp is nothing great. Especially High Beam.

thanks surajit for the info. i did solve the reflector by replacing with amby reflector. but am stil not getting a clue for the minimal flickering of
the bulb. anyone with the cause?

Minimal flickering could mean low battery or may be even a loose connection

Yah you are correct Kathik ... it has to be the connection 'thunderider' ..... check it out and also check out the bulb holder. Sometimes that also gets effected due to faulty connection. I have seen people having some problem with the holder also .... take it to any service center and check it out.

If your TBTS is still under warranty, then they will replace it. So first check it out at the service center

Try this out yourself and do let us know the outcome , so that we can be well prepared for the worst from the beginning

ha ha ha, intelligent answer there, but bro, is it possible n wat bout d effect of adding 2 hids as low beam inside 2 d fog lamps on d battery. wil it ba straight fit or any mods required in d electrical section?

Dude are you a tourer ??
If yes then the Philips extreme 60/55 is more than enough ...
Believe me man ... this one is more than enough ...

the HID is nothing great .... i never liked it .... because the white light creates a lot of problem in depth perception in the night. This happens.
