  • Confused about the tyre pressure of Bajaj Avenger 220

Hello fellow Xbhpians, I am really confused about the Tyre pressure of my Avenger 220. The manual says it's 21 psi on the front and 25 psi on the rear tyre. To be honest I can't really believe that the tyre pressure of Avenger should be that low. One mechanic of a shop where I fill air while checking the pressure said that the rear tyre already has 30 psi. I am really confused and don't really know what to do or believe. I have tried googling it but haven't found any satisfactory result. Please help!

Where exactly is the confusion? The correct tyre pressures should be mentioned right there on the LHS of the swingarm.
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

21 seems to be too less.. for tube type generally its 29 F and 31 R if with pillion then 29/30 F and 32/33 R

      for tubeless its 29 F and 30 R

this is just of what i know off. can be wrong as never tested/rode avenger.. lets the avenger owners plonk in the gyaan about it...

Looks too less and might hamper your fuel economy... it should be 28 Front and 30 Rear (without pillion) or 32 (with pillion).

The best is to check your bike's manual as well as tyre manufacturer.

???? Seriously??? What confusion do you have?? If it is written in the manual then that is what it is. End of discussion.

Tyre pressure is given in units which describe force per unit area. Which means that the recommended tyre pressure is as much a factor of weight that needs to be supported as it is of the structure of the tyre itself. This is the reason why a tractor which weighs close to 2 tons has a rear tyre pressure of just about 20psi (& not that is not for traction through soft mud, the gigantic treads provide that function) whereas a measly cycle tyre requires a pressure of close to 100psi.

Vehicle tyre pressures do not follow any standard curve or a straight line graph, so DO NOT BELIEVE in anyone who says "this seems too less" or "looks too less". A hell lot of physics, research & testing has gone into deciding the recommended tyre pressure. That value is written in your manual and on the LHS of the swing arm. Just follow that please..!!
