Thats what I'd mentioned in that particular post. A heavy alloy also will make the handling very heavy !!

hey sukant thanx for the reply in the other thread. I had gone to karol bagh this weekend. There's a brand by the name of 'Rado' and i've heard the alloys are good. Although the alloys weren't available that day for my bike, the distributor for the particular brand said that they weigh almost same as the normal spoked rims and won't affect the mileage. He also said that if you are unsatisfied, i will take them back.. no questions asked. So what do you say about it??

sorry for flashing this thread again.
The discussion here was quite a useful and I think my next bike could be Karizma
Currently I am riding CBZ-X. Its a great bike, riding it since last August and approx 20k kms till date with no isuues at all. The longest run was of 550 kms a day in Himalayas and i think 9 hors continuously with a break of 15 mins.

ZMA( im not considering the Newer ZMR) would be the best one considering the features it possess,
Alternate accelerator cable(which u may not find in any other indian bike for touring,
Closed chain,so low maintenance on sprockets
Comfortable seating position, the seat length is longer(so might not feel uncomfortable with a saddle bag)
Kick start option, which would be a life saver in case your battery breaks down
Higher fuel efficiency than the P220

Even though i have high regards for the enfields and P220s,i would still rate ZMA ahead of the two.And yes im not endorsing or own a ZMA,but was sharing my experiences

@Phanikar: The Alternate accelerator cable is also found in the Suzuki GS150R

below 200cc catagory..according to me
GS150R is best tourer
comes with alternate accelerator cable
9A battery
heavy weight
good reflector (wide spread beam, though company headlight is crap)
closed chain cover
final reduction 2.92
better sitting posture for loner riding than any other 150cc
no vibs at high speeds

Default The best tourer

i own both FI 220 and ZMR ! before these two bikes i owned a karizma 2004 !
best is definitely the Karizma series ! even the 220 scores well in touring ! but the karizma series are the Legend of tourers !

Thumbs up

I think there is no doubt about GS150R regarding the touring bike under 200cc. It has speed without vibrations at 100+ and good balance and ergonomics and 6th gear.

I have travelled Mumbai to Hyd in singleday without any issues like back pain and wrist pain.

I would say great bike for tourers below 200cc.

I would say 220 because the breaking, headlights, FE, handling, etc are pretty good for highways, I've done close to 5k kms on the highway in the past 7 months on my 220 and it was not a big deal. It has enough power to run on the higways and keep up with the vehicles around you. saddle is a lil hard but you'll be used to it.

I did 470 kms recently on my 220 with only one stop in between. started at 6.30 am, reached home at 2.30 pm, went to office at 5.00 pm and came back home at 3.30 am. No sleep in between, no stress. It was just another day with most of it on 2 wheels.
