Hi guys this is my first thread here.. I have always wanted to go on a long drive on a RX . I have just purchased one to fulfill my dreams can say a goal in life. I have too much engine sound which when consulted to a mech told me that the bearing has gone. Will this create the noise.??
Notha thing i dont mind spending about 5k to fix my bike. If i get my engine fixed will this do the work. I also wanted to know how much time can i ride the bike at a strech.?? Please help me guys. Please suggest me as to what should be done to tour on a RX before i leave. Last edited by Sunny; 05-18-2009 at 06:20 AM. Reason: DO not use so many emoticons (smilies) in one post. |

Hey unspoken...how u doing.... so u own a RX 100 good good
even I have one, which city are you in?Well before going for long ride I would prefer first get it fixed.. though 2-strokes have a distinct note of engine, but if your mechanic is saying that your bearing is down then first get it fixed. Now about the time for which you can stretch your bike.... I would say 1.5 to 2hrs in a pleasant weather scenario, but in summers I would not more than 1.5hrs max. Also if you going for long tour, what I do is that inspite having the 2-T Tank full I also add-in 120ml of 2-T Oil in my tank when i fuell it up to full...... ![]() so just see to it and you are welcome for any queries... ride safe

Unspoken, "too much engine sound" is not a good description. You gotta be more precise!
Please make sure you have a problem before you even open the engine... don't just believe the mech. unless you have a v good reason to do so. Take a 2nd and a 3rd opinion if you aren't sure. Think twice about adding oil to the tank if your pump is caliberated properly. Else you are building up carbon unnecessarily and also polluting. I'd suggest adding not more than say 4-5 ml/lt max. Use the best quality 2t and transmission oil. As for continious riding, it shouldn't be a problem until the engine gets really hot. If you are fimilar with your bike, you can tell whats really hot. This will of course vary according to ambient temperatures. |

RX is not ment for Touring --- and long rides for about some 150KMS can be done with few Breaks....
But before doing this ---- have a note - How Old is ur Bike - if the bearing has gone - then fix it --- and RX cannot be stretched to the Top Speed for more than some 30mts.....thats it --- the cranck Piston will become Chicken 65....... RX is ment for City rides and Road Races.....thats it....nothing can be done on a bigger note with it..... If u really like to Tour on a RX...i would suggest u to have a bigger cc 4stroker accompanying you.......

Unspoken,
Get yourself an RDD CDI kit and before that, make sure that your engine is in ship shape. With this kit, overheating will be non existant. You can tour for however long you want with peace of mind. Cheers, Jay |

I'v never had an RX, but I know many people who have done long tours at high speeds on an RX with zero issues. A well maintained bike should not have any issues. Like I said, just watch for overheating... esp. in summer.
