    Re: HELP:RX-100 on long trips

first of all... welcome to Yamaha 2 stroke family.
i did 410 kms in one day in a month of December (cool weather) on my RX135 4 speed. normal riding speed was 40-60 and max 90 kmph on odometer. and max stretch was 70 kms in range of 50-60kmph. i kept air fuel mixture on richer side. mine is completely stock engine with new bearings.
    .
    few suggestions for ride,

    1. 2T oil should not be more than 35 ml per liter of petrol irrespective of whether its going through oil pump or premix.
    2. take a halt when its too hot till the time it gets cold. the method i use to check whether its 'too hot' is to spray some water on block. if it evaporates as soon as it barely touches block, its a time to stop. Experts please let me know whether this method is correct.

    my question here is.

can we ride RX 135 4speed on 80 90 kmph on 100 kms non stop stretch?
till now i went solo with my RX now thinking to go for long ride (400 kms one way) will group of Bullets. they are planning for 100 kms non stop ride at the constant speed of 80 90. can RX do this?what if i polish port and upgrade GB to 5 speed??

      Re: HELP:RX-100 on long trips

You can safely do long trips on a RX, no issues. But don’t expect a comfy feel due to old style chassis & shox on the RX compared to more modern hardware on new 4 strokes. Please ensure that the bike has all stock parts, carb, jetting, ignition ,exhaust etc.. a worn or wrongly set engine will over heat. Otherwise RX is suppose to be very reliable performer, which vouch for the redline performance in n number rallies in the 80.s .also pls note that RDD ignition is not a good idea on RX100 but excellent on 135.s if set right

Discover 135 or Pulsar shocks might be good for long rides on Rx135/100. Still don't attempt saddlesore on RX100.
        I am back!
