Default Whats the general kms to replace disc pads in ZMA??

my Karizma has done 10000km and the discbrake is not very effective......mechanic said that the pads are to be changed....is it normal for the pads to wear out so soon....any km interval for the pads to be changed??

It all depends on usage and style of riding. No one can predict how many kms it ll last.

But 10k kms seems pretty short.Try cleaning ur disc pads, rub it with sand paper and fit them back and see if u got back the bite.

Default 10 k is too short!

I do not own an Zma but still I think 10k kms is too short for the pads to be worn out. Try cleaning the pads as insanebiker suggested.

The disc brake fluid absorbs moisture and becomes ineffective in 2 years or so depending on the humidity and rain frequency in your place. Try changing the brake fluid (DOT 3 or 4), it's not that expensive but can do wonders.

I've seen disc brakes last for atleast 40k kms and still running fine even with maniac riders. Regular maintenance pays back.

The Disc pad needs to be replaced only after it is worn out, if some sound is coming like metal rubbing then the pads are surely worn out.
I had a CBZ* its pads got worn out after 10890 kms i didnt get them changed from the showroom at that time they costed Rs 790 + Rs 150 labour charge. I purchased aftermarket pads for Rs 90 + Rs 50 labour chage and the new pads lasted for more than 40k kms.
I rip the bike very hard too much in gear accelaration and braking, pads dont last long on my bikes.

how is the breaking of the aftermarket pad ?
isnt it risky when you go at 130 and need to break hard and you know that you arnt running on a original pad ?

It depends upon the way you ride and the quality of materials..

In case of ZMA, they must last for ever (considering ther price....)
but they must at least last for 20k kms...

BTW, I hope you know zmas disc pads cost....?
