I have moved this thread into the Universal Thread section and have made it sticky. I have seen in the recent past that there are many who are planning a Leh/ Ladakh trip this year (2010), and opening a new thread each time not only becomes monotonous but it's also very confusing searching for the right information.

Looking into this, I have made this thread as a one-stop thread for all the Leh/Ladakh/Spiti trip for the year 2010. Please use this thread and this thread alone for searching for any rider buddies, or discussing anything and everything regarding the Leh/Ladakh/Spiti trip for the year 2010.

Some questions

1) Can some one please tell me for what all places we will be needing permission..Waiting time for the permission.Can we cover other places while we are waiting for permission.

2) Doing some cost estimation.So please help me with your advices.
What will be the option for staying at below places.
What should be the cost of staying ??

Shimla
Rohtang Pass
Darcha
Pang
Leh
Hunder
Pangong Tso
Kargil
Srinagar
Pathankot

Biru, as per your plan, you would require permissions for Khardung La/Nubra, checked at South Pallu enroute and Pangong Tso, checked at karu and Tangste. The DC office opens at 10 am. Go there personally and collect the permit template. Fill it in with all the places you intend to visit and get it signed by the DC. You would have the permits by 12 Pm. Now take copies of these permits (as you would have to submit a permit at check points) and carry on with your journey.

You may need permissions for the places listed by kurtrules. Just in case if you want it without hassle, you can get the permits from any travels & tourism. They charge you hardly extra.

Shimla : Rs. 600-700
Rohtang Pass : (Why you have to stay at Rohtang. But I dont think it will be even more than 500-600)
Darcha : (Staying in tents. Rs50-100 per bad)
Pang : (Same as above)
Leh : (Rs. 500-700)
Hunder
Pangong Tso : (Rs. 100-150)
Kargil : (Rs. 500-700)
Srinagar : (Rs. 500-700)

I have answered, what I could in a different colour.
The expense would be very well affordable if you are in group. And a group of 4, just makes it superb for sharing & coordinating. Being in a group on this mammoth ride, mutual understanding, tuning is very important for a peaceful & safe ride.

getting lehed in june, help!!

hi guys,
me and my frens(total 5) are planning to get lehed this june. ne comments on my tentative schedule is really welcome. btw we are 2 T-bird, one R15 and one P150 with a pillion warming the backseat of all the bikes

. we r starting from jammu side. hope its feasible at that time of the year...

August middle/September 1st week (yet to firm up) - I shall be riding to Leh. Except one minor problem.

I will be on a "cycle" :-)

So if there are any cyclists from xbhp going to leh in that timeframe - hit me up.
/Folks - how many cycling to leh travelogues do we have?

but like last year my leaves may not get approved

I am mostly for transporting bike to delhi & back thing only...That way I can save up on time

Mine is yet un-sure.. As other things are planned.. Not riding though, but getting double..

lets see. I dont have any issue with leaves, just working on the finance part too..!! But I can only say by May. I would love to ride again from Mumbai though.. lets see..!!
