  • BMW S1000RR : xBhp's First Glance

The BMW S1000R came out of the blue one day and hit the exotic Italians and the reliable Japs like nobody's business. No one expected the makers of some of the best touring 'unclish' motorcycles toc ome up with a Superbike that would reign as the best Superbike of the year so soon. And that too with a price tag that wont require you to be a the son of a millionaire.

News is that BMW has already cranked up the power output to 250 bhp, and that it might take MotoGP and other road races by storm soon (or has it already, havent been following things lately!).

We met up with a couple of BMW S1000R riders in Italy on the way. One thing is for sure, this bike is just waiting to explode in India, whenever it comes (next year, BMW?).

For now, here is some clever and cute value add by the BMW guys, check out the keychain that comes standard when you buy this monster :

More photos and stuff later !

P.S; Thanks henry for the time in the mountains!

This was a First Glance and not an impression if you guys noted. So no first ride etc for now (however I had a feeling that the guy might have given us the bike for a few kays if we had requested him to swap for the similarily delicious Streetfighter S, but we just respected the unsaid rules !). However for now here are few more pics from the moment in the hills when we got to the BMW rider up close:

The owner typing in his email iD in my iPhone to hook up later while I clicked him!

This plus approx 10 minutes of video is what we could reap in 15 minutes of exposure to this machine!

I noted both in Chris' S1000R and this one that the rear LED cluster flashes at a high rate when the bike is in first gear and about to accelerate, I dont know when that event happens but it sure does!

The video will be a part of the Italian roadtrip documentary hitting xBhp soon!

I will put up some pictures of Chris Pfeiffer's BMW up here soon!

Wow!! Needless to say, the bike does look different. That keychain definitely makes it look alien.
250bhp sounds insane. I guess it must be the racetrack/ street-illegal version.

            Awaiting updates on the monster!

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

                        Hi again Sunny & Anurag,

I was blown away by this machine at the MCN show at London earlier this year.

Never knew about their ingenious key-ring though

Sadly, I was only able to sample the bike at standstill. But sample it I did!!! I'm hoping that you guys had a much better experience with this BMW masterpiece, in terms of seeing it and listening to it on the go. Did you by any chance get an opportunity to ride it? Can't wait to hear a "Yes".....

For those who might have missed it...this is what got me awestruck in early February, 2010...

Can't wait for the masterpiece photos from Italy now...

                        .....Simba

The same thought goes for me too...ever since I saw this marvel in flesh, it's something I'd seriously love to own.

And thanks for appreciating my photos and write-up.

Can't wait to see what Sunny has in store out here. If you even half-liked my stuff, you're definitely gonna be blown away by Sunny's photography of this beauty.
