What has scooter manufacturing got to do with making BAL as dominant motorcycle manufacturer? I don't see the linkbut we have to be a globally dominant maker of motorcycles before that
Lol; very true indeed, especially with Pulsar!!!I don't think motorcycles that succeed are (necessarily) better products, they are perceived as better productsSkill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

He meant, first let us get good marks as Bike Manufacturer and after that release scooters so that people will have some faith in buying the product as they have already earned good name as bike manufacturer. Just like Honda did first earn good name then introduce anyu model people will at least think to buy.Originally posted by aargee View PostWhat has scooter manufacturing got to do with making BAL as dominant motorcycle manufacturer? Lol; very true indeed, especially with Pulsar!!!on 4 wheels u feel the speed after a crash, 2 wheelers are much more advanced

i think its more a lollipop to the shareholders, than anything. they will be launching new bikes soon, and their market share/sales will surely go up, which will enable them to return more profit, which ultimately is what the shareholder is interested in. It doesnt matter to him, they get the money by selling scooters or bikes.
BTW - as the fanboi that i am, looking forward to the yamaha scooter launch around diwali hopefully.
My offerings to the gods of speed -
- KTM Duke 200
- Yamaha RXZ 5 speed

Exactly what I thought; Bajaj will never come back to scooters, but again, that's my opinion.Originally posted by jd666i think its more a lollipop to the shareholdersSkill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

Add this line - By the time BAL gets into scooter segment...(say 2012)Originally posted by jd666 View Post^^ not really. they have pricing and performance on their side. HH/honda/suzuki etc have reliability and durability, and a loooong waiting period on theirs.
- HMSI would be almost leading the segment
- Suzuki will have its own share trying to capture more in the segment
- HH (Pleasure) will have its own segment
- TVS would be almost leading or in second place chasing HMSI
- Mahindra would've started selling mentionable numbers
- Probably, Yamaha would've done experimenting & they may or may not have entered into this segment
Now comes BAL, saying, "Hey we're back"; remember hearing this dialog somewhere before?Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle

It doesn't matter how much share each of the above mentioned companies will have.. Bajaj just needs to find buyers for their products.. if at all it makes a come back with scooters. Just remember that Bajaj has made it from 0 to 30% in motor cycles, there is no reason why they can't do that with scooters.Originally posted by aargee View PostAdd this line - By the time BAL gets into scooter segment...(say 2012)

Share definitely matters & there was no reason for Bajaj to simply quit the scooter market as of now when they could've kept up the pace. Like you said, if they can grow from 0% to 30% in motorcycle, then why not from x% to 30% in scooters too? The lollipop reason is totally unconvincing, let time alone decide what happens.Originally posted by vrugonnab View PostIt doesn't matter how much share each of the above mentioned companies will have..
