At last a higher capacity engine is on the cards from RE, and definitely a V twin.

interested in the thunderbird 500 news... also if there is a genuine V-twin at 2.5lakhs to counter the HDs!

              cafe racer..
i think enfield already has a model in other markets other than in India.

750cc may give some competition to the HD.

Exactly my thoughts too; IMO, RE should've done this even before HD's launch & they would've captured the market giving tough time for HD. Man, I'm ready for even 3 Lakhs & twin 350 cylinders & I can still accept the oil leaks & quality niggles.

I just dont understand why they need another 2 years just to plonk in the classic 500 engine into the Thunderbird chasis

Raghu, one year to plonk in the engine and another year to find out from where all it leaks oil!
On a serious note, I do hope the 750cc is a multi cylinder engine.

guys.............the possibility of 750 is not v-twin but parallel twin (Interceptor DNA).

About Cafe racer---It would be 500cc OHC (Single or Double over head camshaft) to reduce the friction and achieve the power band to higher engine RPM. My guessing is the bike would be good to produce around 35 to 40 bhp.

About 500cc higher power Thunderbird---I am not surprised that higher power t'bird is on the card because RE already claimed (when they launched CL500 in abroad 2 years ago) that Classic 500 mill is already capable of handling higher power rate but it was detune to 27.5 bhp for classic 500.

I am surprised that why don't they put this higher power mill in Classic 500.

If they are going to do as they say, thats great news from RE.
But let them make sure they take a serious look at quality control from the beginning or else, it will also be included in the Harley jokes- "90% of the bikes that rolled out from the factory are still on the road, 10% of them made it home".

i remember reading in some magazine, a couple of years ago, Enfield would come out with bikes in the 180cc and 200cc capacity. Any info on this speculation anyone?
