  • Calling Goa xbhpians! need details on goa tour

hello xBhpians from goa. me and 3 of my friends are going to visit goa from 22nd to 26th march,2012. We shall be reaching there by 3-4pm 22nd and will be leaving on 26th.
That gives us 3 full days (23,24 and 25) for fun and frolic in Goa.

Now obviously, I am interested in bike tours in Goa.

I need your help/pointers regarding the following:

    1. What are the documents needed to hire a bike in Goa?
    2. What is the average charge?
    3. Are helmets supplied by the bike rental? Or do I have to arrange for helmets?
    4. Places to visit? (It would be nice if you can sketch up a plan for 3 days)

I know this is asking a lot, but neither me, nor any of my buddies have ever been to Goa. Any sort of help is appreciated.

    Waiting for your replies!
Never be afraid to slow down. sigpic

      1. Driving license and I guess hotel booking
      2. 250 a day upwards, depending on holidays/peak season etc and which bike you want.
      3. They give you open face, if you really want to wear a helmet that 100's of others have worn!
      4. Depends what flicks your switch and where you are going to stay ie North or South, the North has more action, restaurants etc. The south is much quieter and I find it more scenic, North to South Goa takes around 45 - 90 mins by bike, again this depends on where you're coming and going from/to. You can google most of the information you require.

        Hi,

Am not from Goa, but had been there last year.

        1) You need a xerox of your driving license and one photo identity card (office ID, election card, pan card etc.) They make you fill a form, keep license xerox, keep ORIGINAL photo identity card and take a deposit. Payment is done after you return the bike.

        2) There is no average charge. Activas had cost us 250rs, a bajaj eliminator had cost us 400rs and a Bullet had cost me 600rs. All prices for 24 hours. We had also rented a RE Thunderbird for 900rs for 2 days (48 hours). Price of petrol not included. If there is petrol in the tank, you have to pay for it too. There is no fixed price and it fluctuates depending on demand, so bargain as much as you can. And if you can't bargain about the price, bargain about the time. Initially i was getting the bullet for only 12 hrs but when he did not reduce the price i said i will keep it for 24 hours.

        3) Helmet are generally not provided, though with 3 bikes we had got one old useless helmet. In general you do not get caught by the police in Goa for riding without Helmets cause all tourists are helmet-less. But in Panjim City police may catch you for riding without helmet though nothing like that happened to us.

        4) Places? That only you can decide. Since time is limited and you have to experience the 3 Bs of goa (Beaches,Babes,Booze) you cant go off on long road trips. However if you have time, do try to include Palolem Beach and Colva beach in your itinerary. That's true Goa. Beaches like Kalangute, Vagator, Anjuna where most people end up are good for boozing and nothing else.

Colva beach is in South Goa, many nice beaches in the vicinity, Palolem is around 30-45mins from Colva, if you swim at Palolem, beware where you swim, i stayed for a weekend there a couple of years back, 3 people died at one area, they were warned by the shack owners not to swim there, they didn't listen and became a statistic.

              1. you just have to give ur D/Ls photocopy and some may ask for hotel booking receipt.

              2. The average charge depends on the bike and mostly season and demand.. say last year after xmas activa was available for Rs.1200/day .. As u are going in march de same should not cost you more then 250bucks/day if hired for all three days. pulsars - 300-500 REs- 500+ Avenger - 400+

If u are going to panaji den u can find bikes for rent near Post office.

              3. Helmets are provided but they are the cheap ones which is just to avoid fines n provide no safety. BUT always wear a helmet coz the goan cops are always on a look for some easy cash...

              4. About places to visit search on net n plan accordingly den can give u more details about it.
North goa is betta if u want to enjoy de real Goan night life .
n south goa is good for its natural and scenic beauty.

              Hope this helps you ..

                Hey Cr4nkshaft,

Since you are visiting 1st time in Goa and most probably would have fun on your mind. I would suggest you to stay in North Goa.

You can go to Anjuna Beach & Vagator Beach (Chapora Fort - Dil Chahata Hai shooting place )

Then you can visit Fort Aguada Light House & also there is an offroad next to the light house which will lead u at the end of a cliff where you can see the sea (it looks amazing & beautiful at sunset)

You can go to Dona Paula which is towards & ahead of Panjim at the very end. Nothing much to see there.

You can Visit Old Goa Church where you will find the body of St. Francis Xavier still kept & preserved.

You can visit Mapusa Market to buy liquor, cashews & other goan spices / sweets.

For partying you can visit Titos/ Mambos club which is side by side on the way to Baga Beach.

Stephan please shed some light on the route map of the above locations.
Ride Hard !!! Ride Safe!!! Enjoy every moment on your machine !!! Cheers....

Friends I need a help on similar lines. I will be flying to Goa next month for two three days and plan to hire a bike to roam around. Will be carrying my gear with me. But I m confused as to how I ll carry my helmet? I m not very sure the airline staff would let me carry it as cabin baggage. Would they atleast allow me to check in the helmets? Any suggestions friends?
                    Its not always about speed.

Any idea how much the rates will be for Dio /Activa in the 1st week of April?

Also is there any scooty rentals near the vasco Railway station?
