  • Planning to purchase Bajaj Pulsar 150

    Hi,

I am planning to purchase Bajaj Pulsar 150, however not able to take an appropriate decision.

Recently bajaj has launched 4 valve technology and the monoshock in Bajaj discover st 125 and Pulsar 200ns. Should i go ahead and purchase the bajaj pulsar with normal 2 valve engine and twin shock or should i wait as the 4 valve and the monoshock technology will might come in pulsar 150 cc later.

    Thnx,
    Ravish

While the Pulsar 150 *should* eventually come with 4 valve, there is no immediate signs showing that it will happen in the extremely near future. If you are in a hurry, there are other 150cc bikes which have monoshock rear suspension you could choose from. We would love to guide you better about it but for that we all will need to know what your requirements from the motorcycle are.

That said, the Pulsar 150 by itself is an extremely competent performer in most regards and so it also happens to be the highest selling 150cc bike of them all. But looking specifically at your requirements, we might have better suggestions for you of a bike which suits your requirements better.
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

From the update it shows that you need a 150cc Bike and you are interested in Pulsar, As per the recent press news from Bajaj it is clear that bajaj will still continue selling the Pulsar variants with the same kawasaki engines - not sure whether the lower siblings will get the same perimeter frame where the mono shock will also be added - but adding to the fact that the discover ST got a monoshock obviously the 2012 Pulsars should also have the Monoshock but its a predicted News,

Change is always a constant thing with bajaj - so if you buy any bajaj bike you will feel a bit bad after 1-2 years, because another upgrade will be available. so its better just go for it.
Fz will suit your requirement perfectly but its a bit costlier and you need to sacrifice a little bit of mileage.

Yes, if you really want a pulsar then I suggest you wait a couple of months. Rumors will get more audible. Then you can decide if you want to wait for a new variant of the pulsar( assuming it will be released ) or go for the fz. as long as your at it, I'm wondering why you haven't put the rtr160 in that list. Costs work out to about the same as the other two bikes. Its is VFM and fun to ride.

Never... i stress it 'never' buy a bajaj product without considering Honda and Yahama into account. BAJAJ is not reliable; atleast in my case . I am an owner of P180 and lot of my friends experienced the same. I dont know about TVS. But do consider Honda and Yahama before buying a bajaj product.

              - The above mentioned point is my personal opinion , so please dont create a bad discussion out of it .

                Need a pulsar!!!! Get it....
I dont think the P 150 would have an upgrade soon.It still sets the sales cart on fire.More over,if Bajaj changes the tech to four valve,it wont remain VFM any more.
                In my opinion,Bajaj wont touch the P150 & P220(Both Engine & design) soon.Though the P180 is vulnerable.

The question is how long can you wait ?? Can you wait more than a yr for P150 to come in 4V ?? People waited almost a yrs for TB500 can you just imagine the frustration behind this waiting??

Why P150 ?? There are more better product then P150, GS150r which more better.

To buy or not to buy is the inner feeling.

Mostly if you are fond of low spare part cost then bajaj any day is Kool!! Because it never hits the pocket!! But if you are looking for performance and tech then surely Bajaj is lacking. Even NS200 is launched without FI, where as world is moving to FI tech.

P150 has good average one of my friend gets 60kmpl, same is with Unicorn and GS150r. But refinement and smooth feeling is with Unicorn or GS only

In performance part Bajaj lacks and Bajaj has highest number of changes in it's own model and closing a product too.

But Pulsar brands is something which identifies Bajaj so this won't be shut down.
Why not CBZ/hunk or Dazzler these bikes comes with Dual Disc which is more better in terms of safety!! Price would be some 5-7K here and there but worth spending!!

Mono Shocks are always better for better handling !! So Mono shocks anyday!

Now you will get crazy!! Never involve FZ with any day to day commuter!!!

FZ is best in riding, Handling , Braking, looks and Pure fun to ride in City!! But it has less kmpl compare to any daily commuter, 40-45kmpl.

                    Cons:
Parts are little higher than other same segments bike.
Average is less compare to other daily commuter.
Post 100kmph it will take time to reach 110-115kmph, people have reached 120KMph too.

                    Please tell us why ?? a 4V changes in P150 won't be VFM ??

Simple- Just the addition of 4V engine(without even the mono shock)can bump the cost by 3-4 K .... P150 is one of the cheapest bike in the market. It is another reason of its high selling proportion. Thats why I said, the VFM part would take a back seat. Any ways, thats my thought.I am not in Bajaj's R&D.But If I had been,I would have replaced the P180 with a 4 Valve Engine(DTSi engine, not KTM) and other goodies. But allowed the classic P150/P220 to exist for atleast 2-3 years more...
