Excellently written. CBZ was my dreambike too, but somehow I couldn't get it for myself. Even now I sometimes feel the same feelings I had when I used to see a CBZ rider ride across me. I hope that doesn't happen with the bike I am now dreaming about.
All the best for your future ride!

Nice read!!!

Can personally relate to this as I was 15 then and my neighbour got this beast...In my place owning a bike was not a common thing for 10/12th standard guys...So, just did away with admiring this beast..the exhaust note every evening(while he returned from office) was music to ears then

Mate... You woke up my past emotions... I was in class 9 when it was launched Till today I'm dreaming to own it (though never found a good maintained piece, k I know I'm silly expecting as such) but what inspired me to buy my second Bike the Hunk was the way they tailored the muscles on my bike gives me similar feel when I used to touch CBZ then in my teenage... CBZ may be a legend now but the father of 150cc in India is a true bikers inspiration... The way it used to accelerates the way it roars(I'm act fan for its beats)... I miss them a lot...

I love the design of CBZ* ... ohh man !!

If they re launch the bike with the same design and a better engine...it will rock

Same CBZ body with Engine from Xtreme is enough to kill the competetion.

OH MY GOSH!! I was in the 7th grade the day my elder bro purchased that issue. I was drooling at the red CBZ on the cover.(I still have the cut out of that cover pasted on my personal locker at home) My bro was preparing for his 10th grade board exams. Little did I know that we would have a beautiful blue example in the year 2000. I had pestered my bro at the time of booking to try and get the one with the original exhaust. I kept 'drrwwr'ing the exhaust note all day!

As for the Enfield rivalling sound of the original, so beautifully penned down by you, each time a rare '99 CBZ passes by, I wonder, "How will that pipe sound on my ZMA?"

I ended up making a tribute video for my CEEBZ(as we called her) after we had to unfortunately sell it off on completion of 8yrs. [Just type "Tribute to the CBZ" in Youtube's search column and mine will be the 1st video to pop up. I'm sure you will love it.] The CEEBZ is thankfully somewhere nearby and has changed 2 hands already. But I still go weak in the knees when I see her. So does my bro.

Thanks a ton Dr. for refreshing my memories!
