It was EXCELLENT.. I enjoyed each and every word of the story.. Thanks bro for posting such a Wonderful experience..

Even when I was in 11-12th (during 2000-2001), the CBZ was my dream bike too.. Everyday I used to see my juniors riding that bike in the college and dreamt of owning her someday.. But that took a long time and by the time I was in a position to buy one, the CBZ was phased out. :-(

All the best for your Busa dream..

25k for a 2000 model is too steep.
the general thumb rule is, since the game has moved on and cbz is no more the flagship bike, newer bikes have discs/designs and performance better than cbz, the value has plummeted . nowa days even fuel injected bikes are available in used mkt.
i guess 15k is a good price, rest depends on condition.
by the way, genuine 44k kms is nothing. just remember to use genuine oem sparees to set things anew when u get the bike. u d get better performance from it.

Yep. Entsurgeon is spot on.

I sold my 2000 CBZ back in 2006 for a measly 17,000. Admittedly it was in Chennai (where re-sale rates are lower) and it was through a dealer (which makes the rate still lower) but from the quick market check I did then it was about 2000 less than the best rate possible at max.

There is NO WAY you should pay 25K for a 10-year old CBZ unless you are in Bangalore where prices are ridiculous anyway.

I would say 15K MAX. Definitely not more. Negotiate for less.

Cheers

Rahul

Sorry, I forgot about the performance side of your question.

My bike was carefully and lovingly run in. I never took the bike over 40 for the first 1,000 and then progressively increased it by 10 or 20 kmph for the next 3,000.

After that I always rode it really fast even in the city (Chennai and Delhi having a lot of good broad straight roads where you can let her rip) and I never got a mileage of less than 40 kmpl. Often, depending on fuel quality I would get between 42 and 45 kmpl.

The bike would breeze through to a 100 without hesitation. I've touched a wind-assisted 120 on a marginal downward slope. On a straight it would touch 110 fairly easily. The TPFC was great fun. I didn't have to downshift to get the power burst. I simply let the accelerator slack for a second and then twisted down hard and the power would kick in, even in 5th gear.

Handling was awesome and I loved that bike to pieces. Broke my heart to sell it but I was going abroad and it would have rotted at home and that would have been worse.

I'll never forget the day I first saw a CBZ whip past me on the road and I realised we actually had an Indian bike like that. Or the day my Dad said I could have one without even me asking.

Good memories.

Having said that though, its time is past (though I still maintain that it is still THE best looking bike produced here - hate its successors and the Hunks, Stunners and other plastic ugly things around) and there are other bikes you should probably look at.

Cheers

Rahul
