any one facing issues with start of the new Honda 1000 rr? I am facing serious problems with my new Honda 1000 RR 2010 model which I have purchased in May. The bike is faulty and since July itself has been giving me trouble. It doesn’t start and battery drains out in 6-7 days and now at times within a day. I have complained and 1st time in June the battery was changed as I was told its faulty, again it dint start in a month’s time the battery was changed again, then again. When it still gave trouble starting Then the rectifier was changed. Again last month it stopped starting and it was taken t he workshop where having checked I was told it will never give any more trouble as it has been thoroughly checked. Yet this Friday it dint start in the morning and I had to push start it, this is when I had checked it on Thursday night. this is the 7th time in 7 months of purchase its giving me this trouble. It stops anywhere and is completely unreliable. I’m totally fed up of the machine.

Hi ken, I'm based in Delhi, my bike is a Blade 2010 orange/silver. Was a hard core Honda fan but now having experienced the "new Honda quality" just don't know how to manage with such an unreliable machine. And I'm not the only one facing this issue !! With no solution!

Now this is completly unacceptable from a bike like Honda 1000RR.
If a rider has a fear of being stranded at a place where you cannot get help, then the complete joy and fun of riding such a machine is completly wasted.

If I remember correctly this issue was related to the ABS on these bikes. While parking your bike if you stand with it , turn the handle and move it to and fro to correctly park, the ABS would sense different speeds in the front and the rear tyre. This is what drains the battery. This is what I can remember from one of the threads I read some time back.
I believe the experienced brothers can shed some more light ! |

Any big bike like this will consume oodles of battery power for cranking the engine and to power the countless complex electronic circuits on the bike.
What's important is that the bike is ridden for a considerable amount of time with varying loads. Take her out on the highway for a nice full day long ride. Preferably leave early in the day when traffic is thin and return late evening or earliest in the afternoon (when traffic is again light). If the charging mechanism is not faulty your bike battery will retain the charge. From what i have understood the bike is ridden in the city most of the time and in stop-n-go traffic it will completely squeeze all the juice from the battery. Try the long ride suggestion and let us know. Well, your guess is wrong. I have clocked over 9000 kms in 7 months on my 250R and have never faced any issues with the battery (touchwood). And neither has any other ninja rider that I know of. The point is the other ninja's in my group and I only ride on the highways and rarely in the city.
