Should be a great option for people with serious touring future. Music and Video playback is a great addition to the list!

Guys, I was thinking that nowadays, many companies target "bikers" in their promo's - like Fastrack, Orazo, Mapmyindia, Gillette, etc.

Are we Indian bikers a real easy target?
Do companies really find high demand for their products, just by relating it to bikes/ bikers? This has become a trend.

If the pic shown by Monty is correct, then how do they intend to plonk it on a bike....
Atleast a RAM mount would have been good.... I have been hunting for a cheap RAM mount (locally) for ages now!

Nice. Would be very useful. But at Rs.19,000 it is really really expensive. I would think about 10-12K is the sweet spot.

EDIT : Second thought, with FM transmitter and music playback functions make it more VFM, but still a tad expensive.

MapmyIndia launches TrailBlazer- India's first GPS Navigation system for bikes!

I dont know whether this news has been shared earlier, but here goes..

Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

At 18990 it does sound pricey, but the things it has to offer are pretty good. I'm saving up for this. Would be good to use it instead of the Nokia maps from mobile anytime...

Looks like things are changing in India pretty soon.
A fact -- It takes more love to share the pillion seat, than to share the bed.

I saw this in the Auto Expo, and they'd mounted it on a RE TBTS.

My impressions, screen wasn't large enough to warrant proper viewing. If that wasn't enough, the fonts were kind of small, although I think that can be increased. A big drawback is : You CANNOT operate the GPS with a gloved hand. The screen is capacitive, and the hardware buttons are kind of small (for me at least). But the touch screen being a capacitive one is a big boo-boo on the part of mapmyindia. I stopped using my iPhone on rides just because I found removing the gloves (therefore warranting a stoppage or at least a slow down) to be too cumbersome.

As for the pros, the menu was fast and the signal lock on was quick (despite being inside a tented pavilion). It seemed to have enough POS' for an Indian GPS unit.

If it is what it says it is.. then the maps on the Trailblazer are much more detailed than on the cellphone maps. I have been using MMI on my WinMo cellphones for 2 yrs now(seen 3 versions in this time). The latest one I have has 410 cities i think. So, with 620 cities, it has much more info. Though the 2GB memory is quite less. We could report the capacitive touch problem to MMI and they could make/source a resistive touch alternative. Anyways, the functionality though quite good, at 19k is quite steep right now. It is bound to get cheaper in a few months, till then, i am content with my MMI on TYTN II / Google Maps on HTC Dream.

Audio is good, but why Video?? Won't it be a distraction??
