  • Mahindra Mojo slated for April Launch

Danny Webb is one of of Britain’s brightest hopes for World Championship glory this year riding the all new Mahindra 125 GP bike. Danny is competing in the ultra competitive 125cc World Championship for the Indian team and is tipped for a top placing in the 2011 season.

Danny was one of the stars of the 2010 Thundersprint and is looking forward to returning to Europe’s biggest biking street party - but this time with a bike never before seen outside of India.

He said: “I just love the atmosphere at the Thundersprint. The crowds are great and always very welcoming. It’s just like one of the bigger Grands Prix with thousands of spectators everywhere you look. The atmosphere is very friendly and yet really exciting too.

“But what’s going to make this year really special is that I will be riding a 300cc Mahindra Mojo – a really funky, fun bike which is being launched just a few weeks before the Thundersprint.

“Mahindra are a fantastically enthusiastic company and when they heard about the size of the Thundersprint crowd they insisted on flying a bike in for me to ride. Now that’s what I call a keen team!”

Mahindra are the first Indian company to enter the fiercely competitive world of Grand Prix motorcycle racing but, as one of India’s biggest companies valued at in excess of $7.1 billion, Mahindra won’t be there just to make up the numbers on the grid. With a bike developed by Italian based Engines Engineering, a wholly owned Mahindra company, it won’t be long before Danny will be challenging the established stars.

Webb will be riding the Mahindra Mojo, a 300cc motorcycle that hasn't been seen outside of India. Mufaddal Choonia, Mahindra Racing Team Principal, said: “The Thundersprint is widely acknowledged as one of the world’s biggest motorcycling events and that’s why we have decided to show our first mainstream motorcycle at the event. The Mahindra Mojo is all about fun – just like the Thundersprint – and we’re sure that Danny will have a great time on the bike entertaining the huge crowds.”

Thundersprint organiser, Frank Melling, is delighted that Danny will be returning to Northwich’s very own “Grand Prix in a Car Park”. Frank said: “We love having Danny at the Thundersprint. He combines brilliant riding ability with a great sense of humour and I’m certain that he will be an outstanding addition to the galaxy of stars we have riding with us this year. “

Just checked the thundersprint website.. It says the race is on May 7th & 8th this year.. So, three weeks before that must mean a Mid-April launch..

The link below mentions the date..

Hope Mahindra have done some redesign to the Mojo.. Else, it would be hard to sell it in India unlike Europe..

Apart from the specs, the radical stance of Mahindra Mojo will prove to be both - a selling point as well as a turn-off point. I think that's a great beginning point for any brand. It is so well differentiated from anything in the market so far.

I believe there is a critical number of buyers in the market to make Mojo work. I, for once, am a convert. Just trying to do something which will spike up my bank balance

I know this piece of info deserves a separate thread, but I am shocked that Mahindra launched the stallio without properly testing it, I mean even during the launch a reviewer pointed out to the gearbox issue and they still went ahead with the launch, Mahindra this is bad. Just check the highlighted stuff before June 2011, maybe that is when Mojo is expected.

Production has stopped for Mahindra 2-wheelers debut motorcycle, the Stallio, and this has been pulled out of company showrooms, facing serious problems within its gearbox.
While efforts are underway to resolve the problem, Mahindra 2-wheelers claim they have initiated a process to rectify bikes already on the road. As per SIAM, Mahindra 2-wheelers sold 5,135 Stallios since sales commenced in October 2010.
When contacted, Mahindra 2-wheelers could not clarify the nature of the Stallio problem, but stated they want to set matters right before June 2011. Autocar India remains the only publication to have carried a detailed road test of the Stallio (December, 2010), within which the Stallio gearbox woes were highlighted as ‘an area of grave concern,’ apart from pointing out several other severe shortcomings on this commuter bike.
The Mahindra group needs to take a long hard look at how to get their two-wheeler foray back on track, for even their second bike (still to be tested by us) the 300cc Mojo, scheduled for an early 2011 launch seems disproportionately overpriced at Rs. 1.75 lakh (ex-showroom, Pune), in light of Honda having already introduced the exciting, single-cylinder CBR250R at well under this much money.

You got a point there, differentiated it definitely is from the other bikes in the market.

Differentiated it surely is. I want to attempt to define Mojo's design...

Diplomatically speaking, "Mojo's design is an inter-conjunction of some matured, irregular and assorted design elements apparently from various machines, resulting in a motorcycle which may possess a unique and stand-out appearance, but whose interpretations are highly variable, subjective and dependent on the viewer's thought process and personal taste."

Un-diplomatically speaking, it's design s*cks!! It must be slightly changed before it's launch or Mahindra will be doomed!! Damn! Mahindra do something! Quick!

We need to meet. I need the contact for Mahindra. I will send my portfolio to them.

The Mahindra Mojo is a valuable bike with respect to engine and components. We will have a 300cc bike with inverted front forks and many good parts.

How much time will it take to modify the ugly headlights?
