From what I understand, it is using the Dual clutch Transmission, already used on the VFR 1,200F, and which gives the possibility of a full automatic (with various driving style options), or semi automatic where the driver decides of his gear shift.
I totally welcome such feature! I rather be driving a car with automatic transmission in traffic, where gear stick + clutch are a P.I.T.A., and sequential transmission (controlled from the steering wheel= even better!) is top on a windy road for a bit of "sport" driving.
Not only a SH-150 but even my (lightweight!) wife on her Honda "air blade" beats my Yam 150 Fazer at the traffic light (not for long, happily
!)

What you mean from what I understand is a CVT (Belt Driven) transmission as found in automatic scooters.
As rightly mentioned by you the VFR1200F comes with a Shaft final drive. The presence of a chain drive in the new Honda bike probably means that it does not have a CVT transmission..
..but not totally sure as models like the Yamaha Lexam has a CVT transmission but the final drive is a chain drive.

What it more probably is (but such test bikes very often differ from the final model) would be an electronically controlled electric motors for the gear-shift and the clutch, with a final chain transmission, or a shaft in the final version (much more expensive to make) , single arm, etc.... who knows???
About the transmission of the VFR 1,200F, I find after checking that there is effectively only a shaft and cone gear, with some reduction perhaps, but no other mechanism, torque converter or else (that's what I meant).Last edited by Lucky Luke; 10-03-2011, 12:40 PM.When I do something stupid, my consolation is to know that I'll do the worse one only once!
