Based on the chassis of a Suzuki GSX750, the TTX01 uses two 43 bhp Agni Lynch electric motors: equivalent to the peak power of a 600cc gasoline powered motorcycle. What’s more, the TTX01 has a an additional motor on the front wheel creating a 2WD motorcycle which gives the bike “achieve significant improvements to handling and roadholding, particularly in wet conditions.” (Gizmag)
Currently the TTX01 has 14 kWh battery packs, but the goal is to have hot swappable 20 kWh batteries which will power the bike at normal road speeds for about 50 miles. Recharge time for the batteries should be under two hours. Source:- World?s Fastest Electric Superbike: 125 MPH & No Carbon Emissions : TreeHugger

"43 bhp Agni Lynch electric motors" --- know what, this motors are made in india http://www.agnimotors.com <== Great company, has good name in electric motors for two wheelers and four wheelers.I discussed with the same company to build an electric motorcycle almost 1.5 years ago. The total estimated cost to build the bike was above my budget so droped the idea for some time. Cost of motor could be managed, but getting A123 battery set and its chargers and other electricals where making it move out of my budget. Probably will build one as soon as i get some more money or a good sponsor

Cost break down at that time was arround
60K for motor (Agni 72V Motor) Perm 132 could have been cheaper 30K for 72V A123 batteries ( thought was looking more in line of 144v) 30K for Charger Zivan NG5 Charger (550$) 30K for Altrac Controller 24-72V 450Amp (600$) 10K for D2C Convertors 72 to 13V (200$) 2.5K for Throtle 2K for wiring, fuses, connectors etc etc 20K for Bike that needs to be converted to electric 10K for mechanical and electrical work arround building the bike. Total arround 2Lac Given the cost, it was hard for me get going with the project I expected it to raise arround 2.5 - 2.8 L due to error and learning methodology. But the machine built would have easily gone at par with any 600CC racing bike, and it would have easily made 60Km in less than 4sec thx to electric motor Killacycle touches than in less than a second (0.8sec) if i am not wrong. On a single charge it would have gone 60-80kms, top speed would have been 140KMPH to 160KMPH and 80% recharge in less than 10mins of charging (thx a123 batteries) cost per km would have been less than 10paise per km ![]() Any one wanna sponsor the project ![]() The whole project can be done at half the price too, but it would be just an electric bike and not something that you would love to ride daily. Power transmission is controlled by gears, Power Output of motor is controlled by controllers. if you use smaller gears you would get good pickup, good for up hills, if you use big gears, you will get more milleage, higher top speed but low pickup. I have thought of using cycle gear system in the electric motorcycle, to gain the fun otherwise its as plain as Cars with Automatic transmissions

Why not start with a lesser powerful electric bike? I mean the ones in the market at present are scooterettes and have major reliability issues. Electric bikes in the intial stages will be mostly used within city conditions hence the suggestion. Last edited by Samyaza; 12-05-2008 at 09:58 PM. |
