Thumbs up Indian Team won TTX GP (Electric Motorcycle GP)

The era of electric motorcycling bega when entrants in the first clean emissions Grand Prix proved their viability by lapping the famous IOM TT circuit in excess of 80 mph during the first practice session for Friday's race.

The honours in the first ever session went to the Indian Agni Motors entry based around a 2007 model Suzuki GSX-R600 road bike frame and fitted with two Agni 95 motors and 63 70AH Kokam lithium-polymer batteries. Rated by the team at around 40-50 bhp, the bike was the first electric motorcycle to complete a lap of the 37 mile course, with Team Agni rider Rob Barber averaging 84.81 mph to the time sheets.

(Remember I discussed about building the electric motorcycle around the same, I am glad to see that the dream which I saw 2-3yr down the line with Agni Motors, has actually came to reality, Still lot more to achieve.)

PRO Class times

* Team Agni (Rob Barber): 26:41 (Agni Motors is indian company, building electric motors)
* Mission Motors (Thomas Montano): 33:45
* XXL (Thomas Schoenfelder): 34.07
* Brammo/Bike (Roy Richardson): 35:47
* Brammo/Bike (Mark Buckley): 35:52
* HTBLAUVA – TGM (Paul Dobbs): 41:53

Open Class times

* ManTTx Racing (Dan Kneen): 32:01
* Barefoot Motors Racing (Chris Petty): 33:35
* Electric Motorsport (Chris Heath): 36:26
* NSR - Kingston University (George Spence): 40:44

Well, That's around 130 kmph "Average" Speed?!

Although, Horsepower is not that high by modern standards, the Torque must surely be high & linear at different speeds.

I wonder if we can have such bikes on street?

I mean, I wouldn't mind paying upto 2 Lacs for the kind of torque and speed it gives...?

Dude, I remember you. You said it would be a prototype and you can't ride it everyday...
So, What else are you planning regarding this?
Can we have street compatible bikes like that too, in future ...?

Yes, I am sure most of us will ride electric bikes before we become old to give up them.
I said I cant ride those cheap electric bikes for whom the battery would run out in less than range of 25 -40km.

As far as my prototype is concerned which is capable of running at same speed as that we have seen in race (basically had same configs that Agni team used, i was using same motor, and similar batteries, i was with a123 LIoN batteries, and team agni got a better version "Kokam lithium-polymer" and guess what there is still more powerfull and long lasting available in form of lithium-sulphur-polymer batteries. If it keeps evolving and getting cheap than for sure we can have 50bhp bike under 2L

Future is green, clean and mean ebikes
