Im dreaming big after reading this news! Over the years every top automobile maker has only gotten better after participating in racing events. Hope and pray for the same for our Team Agni.

Fantastic lap time as well! Its over 7 mins faster than the next best racer/team.

Well Done Team Agni! Congratulations ... So nappy to see an Indian Team win this GP...

with Team Agni rider Rob Barber averaging 84.81 mph to the time sheets.
Well, That's around 130 kmph "Average" Speed?!

Although, Horsepower is not that high by modern standards, the Torque must surely be high & linear at different speeds.

I wonder if we can have such bikes on street?

I mean, I wouldn't mind paying upto 2 Lacs for the kind of torque and speed it gives...?

(Remember I discussed about building the electric motorcycle around the same, I am glad to see that the dream which I saw 2-3yr down the line with Agni Motors, has actually came to reality, Still lot more to achieve.)
Dude, I remember you. You said it would be a prototype and you can't ride it everyday...
So, What else are you planning regarding this?
Can we have street compatible bikes like that too, in future ...?

Yes, I am sure most of us will ride electric bikes before we become old to give up them.
I said I cant ride those cheap electric bikes for whom the battery would run out in less than range of 25 -40km.

As far as my prototype is concerned which is capable of running at same speed as that we have seen in race (basically had same configs that Agni team used, i was using same motor, and similar batteries, i was with a123 LIoN batteries, and team agni got a better version "Kokam lithium-polymer" and guess what there is still more powerfull and long lasting available in form of lithium-sulphur-polymer batteries. If it keeps evolving and getting cheap than for sure we can have 50bhp bike under 2L

Future is green, clean and mean ebikes

Wow! This is unbelievable. Will this someday filter down to us in an affordable avatar?
The Wheel was a great invention; Two Wheels with a Motor in between was even better!

Dear Ken, Its still very much affordable as compared to 11-12L R1's and illegal 600cc bikes.
For a budget of 3 - 4L in current time one can build a bike could any day beat 600cc+ bikes
And I see the costs coming down drastically in next 2 years with new innovations in batteries.
Probably by 2012 we could be able to build electric bike as powerfull as R1, with higher efficiencies thereby beating the R1.

And I am sure you would surely love the pickup of electric R1

Team AGNI is based in Kutch, Gujrat Link:
Agnimotors.com - Manufacturers of high efficiency D.C. motors - Projects

Another team from India, TORK also finished at the podium in the open class.
TORK consists of four students all in their final year of Mechanical Engineering at D.Y Patil College of Engineering, Akurdi and representing Pune University. Kapil Shelke, Ketan Mhasawade, Krunal Nanavati and Pankaj Gosavi who have been working on their project for the past two years.

We are all petrol heads by nature and that got the team together. The team started with an idea to make a sports motorcycle that can match and compete with a petrol driven motorcycle and still make no compromises in the handling, range and speed.
As mechanical engineers it took us a complete year to understand the basics of EV and to implement it to a motorcycle frame and dynamics. But even with limited resources, knowledge and experience the team constructed a first prototype.
The team is entering TTXGP to compete and stand along with the bike and team whom we sought inspiration from. We as a team want to change the perception about Electric Motorcycles in India.
