Easiest way to counter this problem is to park your bike facing towards the road and not towards the footpath. That way, you can ride out your bike.

            That is what I do.

My bad; thought all the Indian invoiced Hondas had C-ABS. Honestly though I think it's just a matter of practice and experience. Pedro Lorenzo is 5' 4" after all

I am just 161 cms tall and i had some inhibitions when i started off on the FZ1, but its ok for me now, never rode it in thick traffic to experience it all in first place, but the bikes as easy as to use a FZ16.

How lowering height effects handling?Does wheel base decreases significantly?Anything to do with spring stiffness?
AFAIK lowering decreases CG thus enhancing stability.I never heard lower CG is bad for handling.
Also we know japanese are short and we are buying their bikes and facing height issues?A bit weird.
Whenever i see bikes or cars i see adrenalin pumps instead of people carriers.Thats the way to define an automobile.

I'm 167 cms but the saddle height of the cb1000r is 825mm compared to 815 mm of fz1. With 4K on the odo ,i'm pretty comfy in the city as well as on the highways.Well sometimes if have to stop and there is a puddle, etc ,uneven surface then my feet have to hunt for ground.
I'm not in favour for lowering kits as they upset the bikes dynamics and handling.

I don't think Japanese are making bikes for use in Japan anymore. I believe their biggest market is US/EU/India.

Only blades have abs, the cb1000 doesn't come to India with the optional abs.

Capt, First try adjusting the preload. Not sure if the CB has a built in lowering kit, check the manual. The LC ducati's can be lowered.

Second, try shaving off some foam from the seat.

Third, wear bigger boots, not kidding, some boots can easily add over an inch.

If you do get a lowering kit you will need to lower the front too, maybe lower the triple clamp and the forks will come out of it. You can mess up big time if you get it done by someone who doesn't know wtf they are doing. Keep this as your last option.
