  • Solo ride from tirunelveli to new delhi on a karizma zmr

I am a member of Group of Delhi Super Bikers (GODS). Last year I went with our group to Leh-Ladakh, Rishikesh and in 2010 the group went to Lansdowne on our bikes. I am a die hard biker and a great fan of Bike magazine. I am a native of Tirunelveli District near Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu. In the month of June I visited my hometown to see my parents and wife. I took my Karizma ZMR from Delhi by train and planned to come back by road to Delhi.

I started my journey on 6th July 2010 in the morning at 7 am from my residence at Tirunelveli. I covered the distance of 700 kms from my place to Chennai in 8 hours and 30 minutes. The highway was great. After reaching Chennai I went to the Castrol Bike Point where I got the engine oil of my bike changed because the bikes service was due. While the bike was being serviced I took some light refreshment and fluid for myself. After getting the service done I started for Vijaywada at 4.30 pm. A ride of around 4 hours from Chennai took me to Ongole Prakasam District, Andhra Pradesh. As it was getting dark I had to take refuge in a hotel called Harsha Lodge. Next day i.e. 7 July I started my journey at 6 am. The monsoon had reached Andhra Pradesh and was raining in many places. I reached Hanuman Junction at 8 am where I stopped and sought guidance for my way to Nagpur. I have met a Gentleman Dr. Ashok Kumar in hanuman Junction who helped me a lot. I had to cover 150 kms from Hanuman Junction to Nuzvid, Visanpeta, Putrela, Tiruveru, Kallur, Wyra, Khammam. After reaching Mancheriyala on 7 July at 7 pm again stayed in a hotel for the night. Because from Mancheriyala to Adilabad I had to cover 150 kms and the whole area was jungle. The local cops advised me to halt at Mancheriyala and I wont get any assistance for my bike if it breaks down. In the morning of 8 July I started my ride from Mancheriyala at 6 am I had to cover Lakhshidapet, Jannaram, Utnoor, Gudiyatnur and Adilabad, the 150 kms ride was like heaven on earth for me the entire route was jungle. After reaching Adilabad I took the highway to Nagpur. I had wasted 14 to 16 hours in Andhra Pradesh due to heavy rain and it was horrible to ride but the weather was awesome.

After hitting the Nagpur highway I reached Bhopal at 9 pm at night again I had to halt at Bhopal. In the morning of 9 July I had started the ride at 7 am from Bhopal while crossing Bhopal again the route was amazing for 100 kms the route was jungle again. After Bhopal I crossed Gwalior, Agra, after covering Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana finally I reached my destination New Delhi at 6 pm. The entire ride was amazing and the ZMR had done an outstanding job throughout the journey and not even a single puncture occurred.

The rider: Arul Sundaram, Male-32, from Delhi working in Comptroller and Auditor General of India, (Supreme Audit Institution) for the last 10 years I am riding and I just love to travel.

@Arul: Amazing trip log there. It should have been one lovely trip that you'll cherish for years. It is nice to know that you did not have any hiccups during your trip. Wow!

Ride from Tirunelveli to Chennai in flat 8:30 hrs covering 700kms is fantastic. It should have been awesome road to complement your ride.

Life is not a journey to the grave with intentions of arriving safely in a pretty well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming ... WOW! What a ride
