Mirrors don’t reveal all

Use those RVM’s extensively but don’t depend entirely on them. Do a visual check by turning your head before making any direction changing moves. Mirrors reveal a lot but can also hide.

Inaccurate Don't rely completely. But use it to obtain first hand quick information.

Never waste money on it. I know quite a few instances where ppl following GPS who've lost their way & the ones trusting the localites find their way home much easier.

You don't get into BLR; Just get into NICE road or ORR & then keep moving. Also, its not necessary that you need to be in BLR during peak hour traffic right ?

@saipranav: Yesterday i did one trip from my hometown(Hosur) to Coimbatore and done it many times so i am very familiar with this highway(NH7).
From my experience NH7 is as usual awesome,During SS u can ride from Bangalore to salem without any problem.
I think the NICE road will reach Electronic City,Bangalore, then the route and distance is
    Electronic city-Hosur=20 kms
    Hosur-Krishnagiri=50 Kms
    krishnagiri-Salem=102 Kms
So if u make U-turn in salem then total distance covered after Electronic city will be 344 kms.
you have to apply brakes only for the tollbooth speedbreaker in this route...

Well i'm noob about all the roads being discussed here.. this may be a pointless heads up But For SS, the association does not appove U Turns/repeated runs to calculate the 1000 miles. Just in case you are trying a makeshift adjustment....do consider the rule.

Most of SS completions are with U-turns. 'U' is acceptable and not 'O' . Here is the extract from the iron butt site:

"If you choose a route where you ride 750 kilometers and then turn around and come back, you must get a dated receipt at the turn around point. For example, if you were to start in Denver, Colorado and ride to Omaha, Nebraska and back to Denver, we would expect a receipt from Omaha (in addition to the Guidelines that follow).

We strongly discourage, and in some cases may reject, routes that are repetitive in nature. For example, we would not accept a claim that you rode five round-trips between Daytona Beach, Florida and Jacksonville, a distance of only 150 kilometers..."

If you ask me for this attempt then my answer will be NO.

No matter how good the rider is skilled to ride in rain, there is always a risk of crash on this kind of high speed runs.
One small mistake & you are off from the road.

Recently two guys from pune completed their SS ride successfully. But, i dont think it was their wise decision to attempt it in this rainy season.
    ( nothings personal guys ).

I would say wait for monsoon to get over & after that go for it.

Doing such kinda rides nowadays has became a fame game for people. There will be time when people will say, you had not done SS??? Shya...

i had hyd-bang trip few months back..roads are awesome and perfect for a saddle sore...as i havent travelled ban -salem i cant comment on the condition of roads and do remember that rains can be spoil sport.AFAIK getting the saddle sore certified by the IBA is tough one so make sure that you where can u get computerised bills for the fuel before the ride so that you wont waste time for searching for computerised bills..and you need to have an idea of the petrol bunks based on your tank capacity..my advise is to try a 1000k ride before saddlesore
