Thanks

And, yes, I sure did encounter rain during the ride at Post #4 (Page 1)

Quote:
I look at my speedo -and I see, I am doing 70 kmph!??

Why?
I look at the visor and realise - its damn raining now!
Just what I need!
Its fortunately not dark yet! maybe just around 3 pm.

I was just planning a few things- which involved getting as much distance covered till evening ( late -evening) till the visibility is good, but - now here comes the rain.

Rain gods played hide and seek for nice hour or so, and then decided to bless me with even more dense rain - there you go buddy - they said!!

I accepted, graciously!
"Why don't you bless me with thunderstorms as well?" I was itching to yell!

But, then, the rain neither grew, nor subsided..
It was there to stay.

I guess, it symbolised the point where many give up.
Many lose steam, when it's time they are really tested for their metal.

I seemed to find, that I grew stronger in the rain, now..
I saw, that the fuel meter showed me, I could RIP as much as I wanted for another 2 hours for sure!
So, I adapted for the rain, into much more aggressive stance -
Balls of feet on the footrests, heels on the heel-guard-(Aluminium piece) - Me crouched and my Jacket almost covering the tank.

I unknowingly - screamed for power - "Aaaaaaargghhhhhhhhhhh"
I felt different.
But, all good.. Alll fine

Thanks,

Ace.

Post Cost breakup of the SS

@Frankpilli,
Thanks man!
Speeds on the ride:

I was consistently about 90 kmph most of the time.
would just make it about 105 kmph for some time after every refuelling for about 30 mins or so, and then back to the 90s.

Rain brought me down to 80s and at times 60s.

Almost 4-5 times maxed out at 120 kmph.
But, didn't think it was wise to go all the way Throttle-wide-open on such a long ride! So, kept my throttle just to rev like 7~8 Kays on the tacho.

__

Cost break up of (just) the ride:

1. Reached Full tank to the start line ( minus fuel worth 28 kms )

NECE toll - 40 INR

Total fuel till last tank up - 60.6 litres
60.6x70(avg of MH and KA)= 4242 INR

NECE end toll - 10 INR
At the end of the trip I was left with almost a half tank of fuel (So, to add up to the final count lets add 4 lit. as compensation amount)
+280 INR

Net costs of just the bike fuel + Toll = 4572 INR

FE - Approx 26 kmpl

__

Consumables cost -

Snickers (3X15) - 45 INR
Gatorade (3X35) - 105 INR
Maaza (1X25) - 25 INR
Water (1 lit) - Priceless
Dates -20 INR

Total Consumables - 195 INR

__

So, that's the breakup.

Thanks,

Ace.

EDIT:

@Manju43in,
Thanks dude!

Post Some inputs

Some inputs for Saddlesore attempts:

Looking at the time I clocked in the beginning 700 kms was really assuring.
(Set up your self- and go with steady pace)

When you encounter traffic/rush at bunks - you really get frustrated, even feel more stress! (just understand - 5~10 minutes at a bunk is acceptable - and fits in time, so, keep your cool!)

The choice of the route - and turn around as well - should be done really in very clear details, as accurately as possible.
(That will increase the chances of you doing it as planned- and without taking unnecessary risks!)
(Thanks to HV Sir, for helping me in planning the timings perfectly
- that way, I only had to see traffic at turn around point - but I had to choose between traffic near Bangalore and traffic at turn around
- so, I chose the former - considering at the end of the ride- I would prefer as clean road as much possible)
Do NOT panic/frustrate yourself- If you find out
"Last one hour, I could travel only 55 kms!"
OR
"These 5 trucks are moving so damn slow!!"

Well- trust me- you just waste some valuable energy when you get angry/panicky.
Save it - and - try to maintain somewhat higher speeds at least 15 mins per hour. That way - you wont stress the bike- and you will also be alert in that "speed zone".

It can be done. << Focus on that.

Thanks,

Ace.
