Default Tadoba - My first Tiger in the wild!

Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve - The Real Land of Tigers!

This is what they say at Maharashtra's oldest and well preserved park. Aptly so. Watching a Tiger in the wild was always a dream and finally what a place to realize it!

Few days back I got my first DSLR(Canon T2i/550D) and was eager to try my hand at it. This was a planned family trip. We made the train journey from Pune to Nagpur and back and then hired a vehicle for pick-up and drop at Moharli gate. Accommodation was booked at MTDC, Moharli.

Got inputs from Subrat and his lovely logs from his various visits to Tadoba. Booked the safaris from Bandu Mankar, who organizes gypsies for safaris inside the park. He will take care of all the entry requirements before you reach the place. The safari approximately comes out to be 2000 approx. per trip including all the entry charges. We made 3 trips inside the park during our stay. Another thing worth mentioning is that the MTDC location is very nice and is surrounded by Moharli Lake on its 3 sides and other by the forest. The service at the restaurant is really slow and need prior intimation for food preparations.

All in all the Jungle is really beautiful, whether you see a Tiger or not, the thrill of roaming around in the forest  and soaking up the beauty of it, is something worth dying for. Allrite, letting the snaps roll in...

All images were taken on the auto mode of the camera. Discount me on that as am very new to DSLRs!

The Majestic!

Awesome place, Will surely go there soon for a visit. Did you use a 55 - 250 mm lens ? Pictures are sharp, only thing is that you need to little more care to get the "subject" onto the middle of the frame. Do you think it is ok to go during the summers or is this the best time ?

Thanks vivek! I used 55-250 IS for most the shots and 18-135 IS for some of them.

Yes, I used the 55-250. Yes you are right, I need get them onto middle frame, esp the Tiger shot! The summers are always the best time to spot the tigers at waterholes. With tadoba, the waterholes are are by side of the main road so kind of guaranteed sightings(summer time). Most of the people would end up with similar shots I guess(summer time). Overall jungle experience would be better now. If you make 2-3 trips, chances are high that you would spot a Tiger.

The best accommodation at Moharli gate (the most visited gate with more entries than any other gate) is MTDC. There is another resort called Saras.
Jeep safaris were arranged by Bandu Mankar(9595335274). There are couple of blogs of tour operators on the web which will give you good information.
Main thing is you need to book your forest entry before hand and book the jeeps. Rest for accommodation, you can get that on that day. For bike route, refer to beruoist's post couple of days back. He had gone to Tadoba on his bike.
