We were previously planning to ride to Trimbakeshwar, as it was intro groups ride for me to Cosgeo, Spidey and other members. But as we all know Mumbai - Mount Abu, We Ride to the Montains.... (May 1st) Spidey met an accident and his babe is not in a position to ride, the trip was cancelled. Especially I was very much disappointed
![]() to miss the opportunity to meet the group. We came to know the matter on Thursday 23rd April, 2009. I was going to miss the Mount Abu ride as at that time may be I would be in Delhi for official purpose, so planning to refresh myself before going to throw myself in large work pressure and finally decided to ride to Aurangabad, planned for the caves. A solo ride to half of the caves of ancient India, half --- I rode only to Ellora caves not the Ajanta one. Last edited by bibekjyoti.de; 04-27-2009 at 11:40 PM. |

Thanks Arayn brother for quick approval..
@4:45AM – packed my little luggage, in case I plan to stay somewhere for 1 night and started my bull. Taken out all the daily stuffs from my laptop bag and put all my needs for 1 night stay and the things I require for this long trip. Filled up the tank from the Palm-Beach road fuel station and hit the road by 5:00 AM. Headed towards Kalyan by Shilphata road, reached the right turn for Murbad at around 5:30 AM. I have traveled several times to Murbad, Alephata, Nasik for official work, so the way to Murbad was very much familiar to me, specially Malshej ghat is one of my favorite scenic beauty I have ever seen. Just before riding to the ghats I stopped for breakfast, generally I avoid eating too much while traveling to keep my stomach away from disorder. Have some tea and bada pao and started for the ghats. Suddenly a sound chik chik chik started coming from the front disc and I was thinking should I continue with my plan or go back. This sound was from the day one, it continued for some 3-4 days and gone. But it has reappeared again. I had already informed the S.K. Wheels, Turbhe showroom service people, but they claimed that this is normal with disc brakes. After riding 4 kms the sound gone and I decided to continue towards Aurangabad. On reaching Alephata I took the left turn towards Sangamneer and taken a right turn from Sangamneer. After a couple of kms took a left for Aurangabad. Here I stopped for some sugarcane juice, my favorite one; I can drink 3-4 glasses at a time. Taking rest somewhere in NH222 with these pics it ends up with Malshej ghat... after that i have moved towards Aurangabad. The highway connecting Aurangabad is excellent except some 20 kms in between; otherwise I was able to maintain a steady 100 kmph most of the time. On reaching Aurangabad city around 11:45 AM I asked traffic policemen for the way towards Ajanta & Ellora caves. They told me that I have come the wrong way and directed me towards the city. On reaching a junction again when I queried for the direction from a traffic police, he said me “side me laga”. And was very much happy with my bike’s electronic lock and was playing like a child. He asked me for the license and upon satisfying his needs with proper helmet, license, bike’s paper he was not at all happy. He was interested to earn some money. He asked me to pay a fine of Rs.100/-, and when I asked for the reason he said “bike side me kyon lagaya”---Hahahaahah these silly policemen. Finally he played with the electronic lock and freed me, without taking any money by showing the way towards the caves. After some 2-3 kms again when I asked for the way towards caves the localities suggested me stay there for the night as Ajanta caves is 110 kms from there. But you know, my work profile won’t let me to do so. I have to catch flight on Monday morning for Delhi. So I decided to visit Ellora only and come back to Mumbai on the same day. On the way to Ellora caves there is fort called Dualatabad Fort. I stopped there for half an hour to roam around. The scorching heat was making me to have interest again and again in sugarcane juice, so I have some glasses of it again. Taken some snapshots of canons and fort and started towards Ellora. Daulatabad fort.. right now am very much tired and hungry... will try to post some more pics and logs after having dinner.. or later sometime ... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Daulatabad fort continued.....
This ends up with the Daulatabad fort... Ellora caves is around 15 kms from Daulatabad fort, on reaching Ellora caves, decided to take some food as I was really hungry. There are lots of dhabas, all are good I think, at least from outside view it is ok. After having food there I entered Ellora caves around 1:00PM. There is a ticket, Rs.5 for Daulatabad fort and Rs. 10 for Ellora caves. Really on entering the caves I was astonished about the sculptures. My father has very much interest (he is an artist) in Dokra Art of Madhya Pradesh and I have seen lots of art books in my home. From that time I was seeing those sculptures in books only, but now I am in front of those. Taken some snaps, and being a solo rider/traveler every time I missed to take my own photographs. So this time I asked a boy to take my photo. He was very much happy to shoot a photo. On the way coming back home ... At around 2:00PM I decided to start for Mumbai. Heading towards Nasik, crossed 359 kms to reach Navi Mumbai at 8:30 PM. On the journey to Aurangabad it was 410 kms and back to Navi Mumbai comes to 359 kms. I was very much tired, just had a call in my home to say as usual everything is fine, packed my food and reached home. After having a bath I was not able to take my food - so much tired was I. Finally took my food, covered my bull with the cover and gone for a deep sleep. |
