i have been using 3m's liquid polish from an year or so.... its a blasck small bottle with a purple cap costs around 100rs. the bottle says

" 3M Perfect-it 1 step Finish Compound"

i use it once a month good finish and finish lasts like anything all you need to do clean the surface once after coming back to home, and once before riding out....
also removes the small scratches caused by jeans, etc....

Naturally !!!! The 3M perfect-It system are fine emery rubbing compounds , designed to be used during the finishing steps of automotive painting . Never as a regular maintenance wax/polish for the paint . Every time you use it , it is taking out a thin layer ( few microns ) of your paint , which is why fine scratches and swirl marks disappear .
If I was you , I would stop using this one immediately
This is NOT the same as 3M liquid wax !

As for the wax , it is harmless on almost anything , it's just natural palm tree wax (carnauba) . Sometimes if you let it dry too long it may be difficult to remove buss .... no damage ... unlike some of these more modern polishes which contain abrasives & harsh chemicals .
tip - waxpol (the soild one) works better than kiwi or cherry-blossom as a shoe / saddle leather polish ... and I use it for that too . Super-gloss and pretty waterproof . I learned this in my younger days when on mountain trails we used it to waterproof leather trekking boots for snow .
Thanks for the Information Guys!

This stuff removes small layers of your clear coat, you should use very rarely and with caution, swirl marks are caused by improper washing methods and by using the wrong cloth, as for minor scratches, good multi layers of wax will prevent some of these. You will always get scratches on a daily driver, dust particles need to be rinsed with water, filtered water will give you a flawless wash, if you look back on this thread, i have given a detailed step by step instruction on caring for your paint work, using the correct methods and tools, will reward you, beware of cheap waxes etc. and always without fail use a good automotive shampoo, forget those wash/wax shampoo's if you want your bike to dazzle time and time again, these are only shortcut methods.
Lastly do not let your watchman wipe your car or bike, even if he uses water, your vehicle may look clean daily, but each time damage is being done! I pay my watchman for cleaning my car and bike weekly only, I just happen to pay him the same as others do for the daily wipe, why I pay the same? more effort is required and my methods are more time consuming, but the results speak for themselves, less swirl marks, as both my car and bike were bought second hand, they already had some degree of swirl marks, will let them be, until I get a respray in a proper paint booth.

@ stefanm: can you suggest some wax that does not contain the polishing agents and wont harm my paint.. I want it for my new bike.. So it wont have any scratches and i want to wax it right from the begining.. The most readily available wax here is formula1 but i think it has micropolishers.. Only one shop here had turtle wax but he was very angry on the product.. According to him, he had 3boxes and all were spoiled..(hardened up and thus unusable) and said company doesnt take them back and i cant sell them as it will spoil customer relation.. I need a wax that wont harm my paint and can be used both on metal as well as fairing and stuff.. Please suggest some good product..

i think collinite (suggested by aargee) would also be good..
But a bit costly.. So want an opinion on that..

Amway has got an excellent car polish which is called SIlicon Glaze..I think its way too economical and ecofreindly too..Contact some amway distributors at your end dude.

Yes collinite #845 is perhaps the best car wax worldwide .
It's a great idea to put on a coat of wax on a new bike first thing when you get it .
Try to get a tub of waxpol solid wax . Paint / hardware shops will have it .
If you are 100% confirmed that it is genuine turtle wax, you can buy that from that guy for a discount , try half price . I can assure you the wax in it is perfectly good , just the solvents may be dried a bit on the surface ... still usable ok . Natural state of carnauba wax is very hard , as hard as concrete . I have used a very old tin of Burmah-Shell wax , dried and cracked , but worked ok . The thing is that the wax kinds softens or melts when you rub your applicator cloth on it and comes right on .
Also keep it in mind that there are loads of fake Formula 1's everywhere here , avoid it like plague .

Use waxpol for the metal regions and vista care for the fairing, pretty good stuff. waxpol should be somewhere around Rs.250, Vista for a small spray costs about Rs.80
