@ above ^^

i'd stick to the tried and working combination of the OSRAM nightbreakers.

i personally have been stuck with a philips and its a total waste...

cheers
Avin..

Here's couple of videos of the HID after the conversion. The HID needed some focussing since the high beam was aimed way too high, after the focussing the beam was allright.

Will upload the photos to Picasa and post the link, would've uploaded it here but the file size permitted is too small.

Wrote a mail to Chandiagrh Police regarding the installation of HID's

The mail:

Sir,

I am a resident of Chandigarh and travel on the highways frequently during night. For the purpose of safety I have installed a pair of 35Watt High Intensity Discharge light for low beam of 4300 Kelvin temperate in my Yamaha YZF R15 July 2008 make motorcycle.
Kindly enlighten me if the same is an offence under the Motor Vehicle Act.

Thanks and regards,

Amit Singh

And the reply:

Sir
with the refrence to your office letter no.R-140-PA/SP/Tr.&Sec.Dt. 27/01/2209, in this regard it is submitted that any kind of changing or modinfication in the body and chaises of any vehicle other than installed by concerned company, booked under the violation U/S 192 of MV Act and fine rs 2000/- for two wheelers and rs 3000/- for three and above wheelers.
I/C Challaning branch
Traffic Challaning branch.
Sec 29 Chandigarh.

Couldnt understand though how the installation of HID related to modification of body or chasis as those things are not even touched.

Dude first of all i don't think the officer knows what an HID is . You should have asked it another way. "officer can i fix a skoda's headlight on my bike"

This kind of mails to cops is like inviting trouble.
