Hi,
I am new to xBhp and need some help on headlamps for my Yamaha Fazer 153. I have got the battery, used in Yamaha R15, fixed on my Fazer and use both the lamps in low beam. The current configuration is the standard 35W/35W however I am keen to go for a more powerful combination. With very little knowledge on the electricals, I am not sure about the best combination. It would be great if I could get some help here. Also, would be great if you could suggest a place in Pune where I can get this modification done. Thanks.
Hey if you have got the R15 battery then it wont be a problem to install a HID on both lights at all...(R15 bat is 9aH and Fazer bat is 5aH)
Can you please tell me where n how you got the R15 battary fixed..?
which dealer?
you got it fixed while buying or later??
How much did it cost..??

You can get the HID install in camp..Probiker (Near Hotel Aurora Tower or near SGS Mall)..He does it for Rs.1800 per light..... With Installation and warranty...

Please tell me about my queries too.. I am desperate to switch on both lights on the bike..

sorry to differ but the battery is in r 15 is 3.5 amps and in fazer its 9 amps i suppose.both bike s are capable to handle one hid with ease,no problem but 2 hid in a fazer is a bit of overlaod specially if the rpm is less then 4.5k rpm.
in case of yamaha r 15 its 5k and above it can pull 2 hids.

remember its not the battery its the charging that matters.......

Default Fazer headlamps

Then, I need to check the battery details again. I had got the R15 battery fixed on the Fazer from the Yamaha Factory Shop at Wakdewadi in Pune. Actually I had bought FZ16 and got it converted to Fazer later. So, the mechanic at the factory shop advised me that I should go for R15 battery if I need both the lights on at low beam, which I did. Now, since there is confusion on R15 Amp being lower than Fazer, I need to check on how to go for HID. But, at least, thanks for the good news that I can fit the HID on Fazer to begin with. I do visit Probiker and he did mention that he could fix it however I want to be absolutely sure to avoid any issues in future.

Thanks anyways

from what i heard.. even when i went to buy my bike the dealer told me that to switch on both the light on the fazer they would install the R15 battery.. n said that it was stronger than 5ah stock battery of the fazer..
I didnt do it as i was not sure..
i heard two things.. either the R15 battery is 7.5aH or 9ah.. not less.. as it has to run.. cooling fan.. ecu.. injectors.. coolant pump.. twin highbeam lights etc..
I may be wrong too..

r 15 is having 3.5 amp battery with 160 watt charger.....Yamaha YZF-R15

its not the battery ,its the charging that matters,i am running two hids with a puny 5 amp battery in my pulsar 180 ug2 with custom made coil with charging boost.i checked i can use 2.5 amp battery and use one hid after that also.

Default Please help

Hi guys
I am through with my 55 w lamp prob
thanks to sajjit abhijeet and abhi(my old friend)!

I gave that lamp and avy coil to my friend who was having an ug3 180 upgraded successfully

I have an UG4 180(for new readers )

My problem starts now,I got and got an HID from Hardeep Chennai(1300+200=1500)

Chinese make!!

It has an H4 symbol in it and a reading 6000k.nothing else.
I fitted it with some mechanic's help.

They ve used stock switch for low beam and the another one for high beam.

Also added LED pilot lamps.

There is a small bulb beside it which acts for low beam and a HID comes into action for the high beam.

The high beam throw is awesome but not uniform.it runs here and there.

Also what is the metal plate like thing that runs along the length of the bulb.

Is it for reflection to high beam or something else??

I am feeling really bad about the high beam s sharp nature.its such a nuisance.

I already got nice gaaliyan from the fellow drivers.

Guys suggest me some solution.
Can i put some projector around this lamp??

I cant spend much.can i find some projector from scrapyards.

or is there anything i can do about this!

If i remove the small bulb(appears to be screwed into the base) will this become a single beam HID which could be put into some projector?

What is this kind of bulb called?

can it be used only for high beam.can i at least make it into low beam at the least??

Gurus from XBHP please help me out !

Good to hear that u've solved the earlier issue and sad to hear....

U've bought a HID+Halogen combo kit where the halogen bulb act as low beam and HID for high beam. Metal sheet is the glare shield for reducing glare from the HID to oncomers to an extent.

Firstly you need to understand that the HID on a stock reflector wont give u a good spread especially other than round shape reflectors. No wonder u r not happy with the HID spread as it was my case long back once I gone for a HID kit. But that was a Bixenon kit where the HID bulb will go back and forth movement to make the both the spreads and its considered to be the least power consuming than the halogen+HID combo as the halogen is mostly 55w will be straining the batt.

U cant use this bulb as low beam as the bulb position is different to match with the reflector focus point.

Its another wrong concept everyone carrying along is to use the H4/H7 bulb for a projector. So forget about fixing this bulb on to any projector as the bulb base is totally different and very small compared to other bulb bases.

The best thing I can suggest is sell off this kit to some one you dont know at a throw away price and go for a junk yard hunting for a good H3 projector from Skoda or any good cars and do the mod like Nano did. If u have good skills in bargaining, u can get a projector for 300-500/ Check the reflector inside for the coatings are in good shape, any discolour or any patch is there dont opt for it. Also look for the stains on lens too.

Once u get the projector only go for the bulb as it can be different from projector to projector.

Have a happy hunting

if you guys are considering putting up hid's for low beam than please opt for projectors, or round headlamps...

someone or the other always curses me whenever i use my high beam hid, but with low beam hid (which is in a projector), not only it is soothing to look at directly, but also has amazing spread, and no problems to others..

a lot of efforts is involved, but all is worth it..

the real source of inspiration for projectors is sajjt himself..
its better to not be a pain for others, be it oncoming traffic, be it a group of dogs sleeping on the roads..

and still enjoy HIGH INTENSITY LIGHTS.

hunt for projectors first as sajjt said, bulb can follow later on when the perfect socket is known...
