What you suggest.
A 37T old one or 36T , newer one??

Any pros and cons and will 36T make the gears taller?
Between the 37T and 36T I would say just go 1T down, you might not like the drop in acceleration with the drop in 2T. It will be a bit too tall geared to your liking.

With the 37T you would roughly be doing about 3kmph more in every rpm. If you like the gearing of the 220 Fi then go for this.

36T wont be that bad, but you would definitely feel the drop in acceleration.

I would be going for the 36T in about 15K kms when my current chain sprocket wears out!

@ Rachitkdogra: See, 3 teeth changed on rear sprocket does NOT severely affect the gearing, even on a STOCK bike. I have done that, Trust me!
But, since your bike is modified, I say you should go for 37 teeth mentioned above...

So, go ahead and fit it in your bike. I know its ZMA and has a longer 5th, but its better performing than stock.
I read in this thread that a 1 teeth change in the front sprocket is equal to almost three teeth changes in the rear sprocket. Is it true??

If it is then I should go for a teeth change in the front because in this case I wouldnt have to change my chain which though has done 23k but the mech says it is fine.

Apart from this any other pro and con between changing the front sprocket or rear sprocket.

Can you help me with this??
I have a Hero Honda CBZ*(2006).The bike speed recently seems to have slowed down.Any possible solutions?Does using a chain spocket of Hero Honda CD 100 SS in CBZ help increase speed? I really want some more speed in my machine

There is no Harm in trying Rachit, i have personally done things, that is how i know it..
Also when it comes to change of front it needs to calculated on many things as ,
on P150 that had 14T in the front was fitted with 15T the initial accelation was far better than any same grade bike and could easily match 180cc,
but a max of 95kmph it reached, not beyond that and then ceased!

Be Careful if you are trying your own stunts!

Speed can be achieved by many things not only desprocketing the vehicle, but at the same time it should also have the capabilities to handle it,like i changed to 16T - 39T in the rear for Discover,The initial dropped abut the topend was amazing i could cover any 150c on a long run and easily overtake it also, but when it came to take a BRAKE,i got to know Discover can not stop itself at that speed,so changed it to 14-42, instead to 14-44,which is better!

Fitment is just a measurement. For example, P200, Karizma & 220 have bigger chain and sprockets, you can't fit them to Pulsar 150 ... despite same fitment.

I'm sorry, The list has only K4-100, Challenger and King...

1. Well, your new UG4 has a final reduction setup of 14/39 ... But, I'm unsure about which chain/sprocket "size" it is ... One common size is P220/ 200/ ZMA size ... and the other is a smaller size of P150 UG3 / P180 UG3/ etc...

2. So basically, you want to overgear it? That means a bigger front sprocket, or a smaller rear sprocket is what you need now.

If it is Normal same Size, Pulsar 180 UG3's front sprocket (15 teeth) will do the job.
If it if Larger Size, then you can use Rear Sprocket (37 teeth) of Pulsar 220 (old DTS-Fi) ...

In either case, you shouldn't change the chain, as its 1-2 links change and chain can be adjusted to this much change,

3. Yes, any change to overall gearing affects mileage. In this case, you'll get more mileage provided the same riding style as before.

In this matter, keep looking here, as I might provide updates on which sprocket fits it.

thanks samarth for your reply!

Put 42T in the rear, 39 would kill it..
Or put 15T in front and then 39 of caliber in the rear if it fits..

Sorry for late reply. I missed the thread.

You said, 1 teeth change in front sprocket = 3 teeth changes in the rear sprocket.
Yes, It is exactly equal, ONLY if your Final Drive (Rear Spr. Teeth/ Front Spr. Teeth) = 3.
For example, in a 14/42 teeth setup.

For all other Indian setups, it is "Approximately" 3, many times. For Example, in HH ZMA, it is 14/40, which comes out to be 2.85...

Yes, you can go for a Front sprocket change to see a good difference. 23,000 kms? Well, I hope you must have changed the "chain lock" once, when it was at about 10k-15k... If not changed, do so now.

Still, Changing front spr. also reduces the costs involved, and again, Chain can be adjusted at most times.

However, expert racers and other enthusiasts prefer changing Rear Sprocket, because it gives them more choice and freedom. In other words, it allows them to make "minute" changes...

As far as possible, You should choose a similar hardness material in all Chains and Sprockets. That's because, a Softer Sprocket will wear out itself quickly, while harder one will wear out/ damage the chain...

No, There are no other major Pro's and Con's, except the ones I mentioned above.

Try using the new P220 DTSi's Rear Sprocket. I'm 90% sure it works... It has a 36 teeth setup, which will help in cruising.

Guys, You can use this site to calculate Gearing Speeds, via Bike Specs:-->
