Exclamation Bike to choose from 150 cc.

Hi all,

I am planning to purchase a new 150 cc bike.

My height is 5.11 and age is 30 years.

--------------
background:
--------------
Till now I driven only kinetic(gear less) scooter. long time back Bajaj
Chetak. But never drove a bike(geared).

I shortlisted the following bikes.

(a)Suzuki 150 cc gs150 r:
====================
New bike with good neat features, comfort riding, good looks and mileage oriented performance.(but don't have the long term data, since it is launched one year back)

(b)Honda Unicorn.
==============
undoubtedly synonymous for quality...in terms of performance, mileage, looks(somewhat) and trustworthy from 5 to 6 years by its track record.(but it is common these days)

-------
query:
-------

1)please help me in choosing the best between two gems in keeping view your first hand experience on the two bikes.

2)please let me know the practical mileage of the two in city and on the highway.
and its on road price in Hyderabad.

3)will the fuel tank of gs150 r creates any trouble when brakes are applied suddenly(will it hurt the groin region, with sudden brake application)?

4)will the Suzuki bikes are trustworthy visa-vi with Honda unicorn(long term consistence performance)?

5)can I learn to drive a geared bike directly on these 150 cc bike or should i need to learn it initially on 100 cc and than ride on 150cc.

I appreciate if you answer the query in question wise.it will clear all the doubts striking my brain.

I sincerely appreciate your valuable and authentic suggestions in purchasing superior among the two bikes.

Thanks,
Bike Aspirer.

both the unicorn and gs are fuss free bikes though the first batch of zukis had a tank rust problem.Said to be rectified now

2)please let me know the practical mileage of the two in city and on the highway.

both give around 55kmpl(normal riding conditions)
3)will the fuel tank of gs150 r creates any trouble when brakes are applied suddenly(will it hurt the groin region, with sudden brake application)?
this is one of the dumbest myths i've heard.Remember, when the pulsars were launched, this was one thing that did the rounds the most.Nothing like that is ever gonna happen

4)will the Suzuki bikes are trustworthy visa-vi with Honda unicorn(long term consistence performance)?
looking at the zeus and heat, both bikes which are robust and well built,I don't think there'll be an issue
5)can I learn to drive a geared bike directly on these 150 cc bike or should i need to learn it initially on 100 cc and than ride on 150cc.
you can.Infact, you can learn your first biking lessons on any bike below 250cc IMO.That won't be a problem for sure

I appreciate if you answer the query in question wise.it will clear all the doubts striking my brain.

Thanks,
Bike Aspirer.
my answers in bold...and my vote goes for the GS150r

1)please help me in choosing the best between two gems in keeping view your first hand experience on the two bikes.

Both the bikes are best on thier own Basics.......
But as far as Reliability is Concerned Uni stands first

2)please let me know the practical mileage of the two in city and on the highway.
and its on road price in Hyderabad.

Uni will produce 50
GS will do the same on city Traffic....
In highways you can expect some 5 to 8 Higher depending on your Speeds

3)will the fuel tank of gs150 r creates any trouble when brakes are applied suddenly(will it hurt the groin region, with sudden brake application)?

Not so - untill your seating position and Braking are Unique....

4)will the Suzuki bikes are trustworthy visa-vi with Honda unicorn(long term consistence performance)?

Suzuki has comparativerly less Service centres and there were some complaints of Rusting in thier bikes......
Never heard of anything with UNI.....
But GS has more Advanced Features then that of UNI......Except the Mono Shocks......

5)can I learn to drive a geared bike directly on these 150 cc bike or should i need to learn it initially on 100 cc and than ride on 150cc.

It depends on your mind set....
But my recomendation is to first learn it with your friends bikes or an Old bike of any Local Mechanic....And then go for yours......

UNI stands tall but GS has more features like Digi Speedo
Different Driving modes....Rear sets.....6 speed box
As far as performance is concerned GS wins the race
But UNI is a stable vehicle.....best for an 150 Commuter

HI all,

I thank you all for your warmth and guidence for choosing from the two bikes.

1)To get a unicorn i have to wait for 45 DAYS AS PER Honda dealers in Hyderabad.

2)I do not see many SUZUKI GS150 R bikes on Hyderabad road.does it mean that the bike is a flop show or success story?(actually i am more inclined to Suzuki gs 150 r,but what to know is it a success story. And furthurmore the after sales spare parts availability is also poor in case of suzuki.
Any suzuki owners please through light on the truth in it

3)Any idea about when the Yamaha sz is on the road? and specs and info?
i ahve found one link, but it is not complete(Yamaha SZ 150cc To Launch In February! | bikeNcar)

4)What is the seconds sale value of Honda and Suzuki products?i heared that the seconds sale of honda is good but donot know about suzuki.

Thanks,
bike Aspirer.
