Tip of the Day

Look all over

Develop an eye-scan pattern while you ride. Left far to right far to right close to left close with a once in two scans glance at the RVM’s and the instrument panel. For a focused rider, scanning is a patter-break detection system.

    Default R15 or P180 UG4

    Bikers..!

Please suggest..which one of these is better in terms of speed..!

    R15 Yamaha or Bajaj Pulsar 180 UG4

Actually I need this to be answered honestly to one of my friend who is considering to buy R15.

The background is ..! I got this new Pulsar 10 UG4 last year..!
and I am very much happy with its performance.I am talking only in terms of speed !
We live in Mumbai..! and here so many times(5-6) I have been able to smoke out R15 on highway..!Western express highway (from Bandra to Airport-Andheri)
    hard to believe..!but its true..!
I have always seen R15 being compared to 220 , Karizma..!so I always sort of considered myself on 2nd grade when I see R15 on roads..!
But whenever I have attempted to take over a speeding R15 I have been succesfull so far..!
Lately, I have started thinking ..is P180 really faster than R15..?
and 2nd grade wala feeling is starting to fade aways for R15
No doubt R15 is great in looks..!But what about speed..!
    Please suggest..!
Now there are only 2 bikes I bow down to on roads..{P220 and karizma}.
And abt my friend..like i said we both want speed..!
he has been a owner of P150 all these years...so he is not that wiilling to go for 220..! and abt Karizma..! He says...R15 is better than Karizma..!

And Its me trying to tell him...! P180 is faster thn R15..!

    So whats the truth..!

Please give me honest and experienced answers..No brand gyaan....!

If you know how to take the horses out of your bike, the P180 is no match for the R15. In fact there isn't any comparison. The R15 will draw circles around the P180 and still have two gears left! Maybe even three!! Be it acceleration or top end, the R15 will be eons ahead of the P180 UG-N!

No comparison , maybe all the R15 owners you have raced against were not in the mood to and were probably cruising while you were ripping your bikes heart . top speed ,0-100 ,handling ,braking R15 is much ahead of the Pulsar 180 . Only thing equal to it is the P220

    ROTFL !

Im not sure how an 13.5 BHP can beat an 17BHP......
May be you thought an Stunner as R15
    or
All the R15 riders would have had some grace in thier heart to let you cross...

Ok Im not against you - but just admitting the Possibilities

There are only few Indian Production bikes which can be compared with R15
    they are
    P220
    P200
RTR 180 ..... Even ZMR doesnt comes near the Figures....though it is an Competitor...

P180 produces good powerband but when compared to R15 it is marginally Less

R15 can produce a Top End of 130 which is only the second Highest Top end achieved by an Indian Premium Bike .....

For more details - there are many Thread available here - where you can see Comparisons between R15, ZMA, RTR, Pulsars etc etc

^^^^ com-on guys we are not here to compare the bikes.

    @threadstarter
I will not be commenting on UG4 P180 as you own it and better know it.

About R15, then, many of the fellow 'indian' riders are only intrested in looks of the bike (excepting Xbhpians), therefore, if your friend is going by its SBK looks then do warn him about what an R15 is?? He might not get what he is looking for because R15 is a pure revv. machine one always needs to keep in its power band for real 'speed freak' feel. I have ridden both bikes and by my means "Buy a UG4 if you want a cheap yet realiable yet commuter yet tourer machine." & "Buy, a R15 if you want a revv. machine which needs to be ripped hard + good tourer in terms of its reliability."

Above were completely my thoughts. I didnot mean to offend any company neither do i want to support.

Ride an R15... rip it till redline, it will take all the throttle abuse you throw at it. Hit a curve at 3 digit speeds, stick your body a little out and exit smoothly... u see an old guy trying to cross the road on his cycle, and then he stops in the middle of the road to answer his phone, you slam the brakes, stop precisely where u want to, ride close enough to give him a piece of your mind and zoom away..

Man... not last week during our xBhp ride to ananthagiri hills..I wanted to ride my friends P180 UG 4 on the way back.. It was good, better than I expected.. but I asked him to return my bike and I was at home, in control.

Saying again, you ride the R15 yourself before suggesting anything to your friend.

PS - the first para is just for the heck of it, don't take it literally

A p180 can smoke a r15 only if the r15 rider is riding at 60-70kmph on 6th gear and then accelerates in the same gear .
Else , gear to gear the r15 is quicker and has a better top speed ,

U may have ridden bikes for years ,once u hop onto the R15 , u ll need to learn to ride it to extract the best out of it ,
Else there is every possibility that ppl can smoke you an r15 on the road.

ERRRRRRRR......... I don’t get it. I seriously don’t get. How exactly do people compare bikes these days? BSM comparing P220 with RD350. Somebody asking whether to buy a P135 or Apache 160. I mean make up your mind about the segment at least before posting a query.

Well, as far as this query goes, Dude If you want an actual Sports bike, with proper sports bike features, top end, acceleration, power curve, braking, handling, out and out track buster, the R 15 is always there. It is technologically decades advanced than even its own siblings let alone the pulsar which needs 70 extra ccs to beat it. Out and out, an enthusiast's bike the R15 is.

If you want a powerful commuter, then buy the P180.

As far as performance is concerned, the 180 is no longer even in the ballpark.

    @ Threadstarter...
Most of the r15 guys will agree with me on this one.
You see, the r15 owners are used to people trying to race them. So, they just ignore the other "racers".
    The r15 goes 0-100 in 10 seconds man !
Did you ever try going 100 on your p180? Next time count the seconds.
And if you are judging the bike from its cc ..let me tell you..
"Judging the bike by its cc is like judging a woman by her bra size"- some xbhpian
