@ the thread starter, R15 is one of the best bikes that are currently available man. There is no point of comparing a R15 with a 180 as the difference is like heaven and earth! The yammy scores in all the right directions aganist the 180 man, handling is heaven!, Engine again heavenly, the list can continue man! And the smoking part, i do agree with everyone, might be the R15 riders would have let ur smile last for sometime, but in reality the R15 horses are prancing horses and not some figures printed in papers. Fyi, i've seen 220 guys getting smoked by R15 guys and so on......

P.S. All this is coming from a responsible 200 owner who never owns an R15 but have ridden some several hundreds of kms on that beautiful yammy!

Actually I need this to be answered honestly to one of my friend who is considering to buy R15.

The background is ..! I got this new Pulsar 10 UG4 last year..!

But whenever I have attempted to take over a speeding R15 I have been succesfull so far..!
Lately, I have started thinking ..is P180 really faster than R15..?
and 2nd grade wala feeling is starting to fade aways for R15
No doubt R15 is great in looks..!But what about speed..!
Please suggest..!
Now there are only 2 bikes I bow down to on roads..{P220 and karizma}.
And abt my friend..like i said we both want speed..!
he has been a owner of P150 all these years...so he is not that wiilling to go for 220..! and abt Karizma..! He says...R15 is better than Karizma..!

And Its me trying to tell him...! P180 is faster thn R15..!

So whats the truth..!

Please give me honest and experienced answers..No brand gyaan....!

Although both the bikes produce 17 ps, there is no comparision in terms of handling, NVH and top speed between them mate!! The R15 seems like a dream!!!
The R15 is very light and that is a big advantage in itself, it helps in acceleration and braking to great extent.
The P180 ug4 is really heavy at 147kgs and to add to it, it wears the same footwear as that as 220!!
You beating the R15 shows that u are really skilled rider thats it and nothing else.. it has not got anything to do with R15 being less powerfull..
The R15 remains in steam only at certain point so the deal is you have to stick at this point or else even the P180 can hold a candle to it.. Even i have experienced it in drag sessions with my friends! I have bet them multiple times on a P180, the key is keeping the bike in steam!!
If both the bikes has same skilled riders riding them then the P180 troubles till 80 and after that the R15 is much better!
The p180 has wide powerband while in the R15 its concetrated at certain point. A mis-shift or an early shift on an R15 means the P180 goes whoosh!!!

If budget is not a problem then ask him to go for an R15! if budget is problem then a P220 serves an excellent purpose!!

Firstly: Racing in the street is not appreciated in xbhp. If you feel the need to prove something. Find an empty road.
Secondly: Street is the last place where speed can be judged. My car can do 150+. But believe me, I have these autorickshaws smoked me many times.

If you're consider yourself 2nd grade because of P220, ZMA, R15. Now with
Ninja 250, R1, Fireblade etc. to name a few. I think you may have to grade yourself a couple of notch further down the order.

1.log off from your PC
2.find a YZF-R15
3.ask the owner to lend you
4.find an empty road
5.hit 10000rpm in first 3 gears on a YZF-R15
6.come back
7.log in
8.and give us the feedback

Thought He mentioned He owned an P150....So was just mentioning the Power figures of 150....

Dude.. Its not abt all P180 Owners.. I guess TS has got done some modifications like puttin a Jet engine in his pulsar..

I own a P180 UG4.. and its really good machine... But Comparing it with R15...

R15 is the best Bike yamaha has given to the indian market... my frnd owns it and i know wy it is the best ....

@TS ... Loving your machine is important ..but U must come outta ur dream asap...

*those not willing to race* or guys smoked by u must be completing there runnin -in period for there R15..

Ahem... Ahem... I just dont get it. Really I dont! In my 1 year of ownership, 14K+ kms, insane riding (city & highways), 2 crashes, bike ripped off, again restored, (need more work)... I think I justify my comments with this experience on R15. A top whack of 135kmph in city roads (Im over 85kgs). I just cant understand how P180 can be even nearer.
No offense here Indrajit and I truly wanna help your friend to get the best available bike in India in terms of 'speed'. P180 is indeed a good bike but comparing with R15 ... nah! R15 rules its segment. Segment of Price (1L+) and segment of power also (150cc), not just BHP figures on the paper but the on-road performance.

But how I understand your friend, is that he would look more from the mid-range performance. And not the sweet spot RPM of Yamaha. In that terms, he can go for ZMA. But if he wants something really 'insane' then its R15 all the way. Goodluck!

p180 and R15 are different animals with entirely different characters...

In a packed street p180 will pop out some show stuff.
But post 7000rpm p180 will suffer...

I respect both machines for its virtues.

R15 is not that ridable in a packed road, the torque at lower rpms are pathetic, you will not feel like a 150.

personally like the riding posture of p 180.

smocking off an R15 with p 180 on highways will be either a dream or the R15 guy will be running in his machine!
