If mileage is crucial in effecting your decision and you wished to go for P220S and not P220F, you should probably stick with P180. Anyways your usage mostly consists of city riding, so no need of the extra horsepower.

If u want to go for long drives, touring its p220 hands down... the bike is amazing on the highways... But as ur req. is for city and with good mileage, go for 180... P220 will not give u much more than 40 and u will end up shifting gears a lot, this bike is not built for heavy traffic...

Hey bro,

P220 giving 25kmpl is what I heard even where I live. Then I discovered these guys who get such low mileage were thrashing often. So if you have proper control over the the right wrist I guess you can expect 35-40 in city. It is better that you ask P220 owners for proper info.

If your usage is max in city then do go for P180. Riding smooth you can definitely expect 40+(even more I guess). Even occasional touring is no problem. If you are often on the highways then go for P220. But I feel P180 suits your criteria perfectly.

Do take test drive and let us know what you feel.....

it would be better if you would gor for 180...
because,

Things u r looking for in the bike:

1. My daily commuting will be around 15kms in a heavy traffic prone route

as you drive in a heavy traffic prone route,180 is best as its not as heavy as 220

2. Mileage figures of 40 - 45 KMPL will do
180 offers you a nice mileage.you will get around 45 kmpl.if you are a smooth rider.even pulsar 220 gives you 40 kmpl,ask me i use a 220s it gives me around 40 kmpl.but if you expecting more,go for p180.

3. Good pickup & maneuverability
pickup in 180 is marvelous... maneuverability is better than 220..

4. Occasional tourer
again 180 is best here
5. Low Maintenance
220 needs lots of care...so u better go for 180...

well, the budget is the factor here.
180 crowns the VFM tag.
220 on the other hand is a sports machine with touring abilities.
Again, within the city, i would suggest Pulsar 180.

Guys, Dont you think the Oil cooled engine and Dual Disc are a significant performance improvement in P220S ?
What is the effect of Oil cool engines ?

As far as I know, the 200/220cc engine had heating issues and that's why bajaj has added the 'oil is cooled' tech to these engines. So actually its not a performance improvement as such.
