well, the budget is the factor here.
    180 crowns the VFM tag.
220 on the other hand is a sports machine with touring abilities.
Again, within the city, i would suggest Pulsar 180.

Guys, Dont you think the Oil cooled engine and Dual Disc are a significant performance improvement in P220S ?
What is the effect of Oil cool engines ?

        R3 (2015)

Pulsar 180 (2010-2012 Gifted to brother)
        RX135 ( 2003-2010) - Sold

As far as I know, the 200/220cc engine had heating issues and that's why bajaj has added the 'oil is cooled' tech to these engines. So actually its not a performance improvement as such.

              yups P220 goes about 38-40 km p l

You have already made a good decision when you finalized the two Pulsars among the whole lot!!! A 180 cc will suit you (definitely in the city conditions)!!!

Which bike, if any,are you riding currently?

The 200/220 CC engines provide an obvious bump in power and acceleration. They run lean for better mileage and this lean mix causes heating which is countered by the oil cooler. So it is a necessity for those engines.

I had a RX135 bought it 2003 brand new and sold it couple of weeks ago; as I dont like the suspension with it and I used to drool at the Pulsar for sometime; so thought of getting one; and liked the 135LS but finally settled for P180.

Hey I think the p220s is the better bike, I too drive 30km everyday in hellish bangalore traffic, infact I use the p220f. It's a bit more difficult to handle but I'm surprised at how fast I've gotten used to the bike. The p220s in my opinion will behave just like a 200 as far as handling is concerned. You'll be able to zip through traffic and find it not taking a toll on your wrists.

As far as mileage is concerned, if you leave the bike stock and drive in a sane manner with occasional speedbursts , you should be making 35-40kpl with ease. You are getting a lot more power than the p180, a lot more style and a lot more comfort. The price difference is not much so you won't feel the pinch. Regarding maintanence I'd like to say .. You take care of you bike and your bike will take care of you. peace
