  • Pulsar 220 F or Karizma-R (1st Bike)

Hello guys, m newly joined here. I m gonna get a bike for me next week, m a newbie in bike riding. I decided to get the pulsar 220 but my friends r saying i wont be able to handle the power so they r saying to get a karizma-r. Also i need a good mileage bike as i will be travelling around 50-100km daily. M confused between these 2 bikes. Please let me know whats best for me.

    Topic Approved.

Pure crap, I say! If you are mentally stable and have a controlled right hand, you can ride ANY bike, least of which the Pulsar 220. If you love the P220, then, I suggest just go ahead and buy yourself one.

If u r mind is like that go for zma-r,there are so many xbhpians using P220(both DTS-I and FI) for more than 3 years witout a major problem.yes the bajaj bikes needs little more care.Btw i own a P220 dtsi (6 months old).the only problem i faced till date is the replacement of a airfilter sensor U/W.

            i own a zma. it's a gr8 bike. but would I buy one now ? no.
p220 has more power, more features, cheaper spares...but most importantly the spares are easily available. It gives better average too.

zma has , arguably, better chassis than p220, but it won't run if you can't replace the faulty clutch cable.

            Logical choice : P220 F/S

This one of the most highly discussed topic in the what bike section.

i wonder why your friends did'nt suggested any other bike.....P220 is a good bike but becomes handful in Traffic..this is the same case with ZMA...you also want good millage...why don't you consider Apache 180....this bike gives better average and great performance..

                  as i own a p220 i can say

                  performance,vfm,sense,running costs,features(55w projector),easy to handle every where(traffic,high speed,pot holes,off road) - p220

deep pockets (spares),high running costs, costly, huge faring, more refined than p220,v.g posing bike - zmr
i may not know the handling virtues of the zmr,but it will sure be tough in tight spaces and off road

milage will be almost the same for both - arnd 35 in city

                  if milage is a main concern - p180,rtr 180...

and since ur new to biking and if have a doubt,do not underestimate 21ps of power in the p220... if u do deciede to go for the p220,be gentle for atleast 2weeks and get to know it on empty trafficless streets first and also get used to braking... handling it will be a breeze and it is not at all heavy on it foot and the seating position is very confidance inspiring...
u won't go wrong with the p220 and if u maintain it properly it will last a life time.. and yes, u will have to replace some minor parts time to time, but since they cost nothig ,no big deal...ex- i had the bike for arnd 8 months and did arnd 9k kms on it and had to get some roolers changed in the one way clutch which costed 50rs...

if u need a smaller segment bike i would recommend the dezzler if the look is okay for u as i have used the unicorn for arnd 5 years and that dazzler has every thing that i wanted for my uni... u will ger better milage as well...
RED BULL did'nt give me WINGS, my BIKE did !!

The mileage of a P220 when cruising at 120-130 will be 32-33. In regular city use, it will easily give you 38-40. I have got a max of 54kmpl on normal unleaded petrol but that is a rare case. Anyways, P220 insane is much faster than Karizma R / ZMR insane.

Anyways, as for your query FE wise, in identical riding conditions, Karizma R < P220 < ZMR. Choose wisely.

P.S.: I have used a P220 for 20k km. It has never given me FE lower than 33. I use unleaded petrol.

Really gud figures bro, so the 25kmpl thingy is just a rumour, btw the PBK guy said company mileage is 54kmpl but it gives 35-40kmpl!!

umm ... my 220 has always given a slightly lower mileage .. generally in the 28 - 35 range .. but that is still freaking awesome because a pulsar 220 will beat zmr hands down .. how ever , the engine of zmr must be pretty refined .. Afterall , the previous karizma is a beauty to ride ..
But p220 is like this unruly rogue
hard to tame but once thats done , its the best vehicle you can get ..
                          1year , 3months , 11.5k kms , still loving it

Karizma is a wonderful tourer, smooth and reliable engine and the parts are of quality. Its a well powered machine too but dont expect to get spare parts without a long long waiting period.

P220 is a great VFM machine, really well powered and i guess its the best straight-liner in terms of acceleration, not AS comfortable as karizma i guess.
but overall the quality of parts are cheaper and the engine wouldn't be as smooth or reliable as the Karizma but not that the engine would give up in couple or years or so.
but my friends r saying i wont be able to handle the power
dude we are talking about 22bhp not 90!
be gentle and within a month or 2 you will be ripping her hard!
anyway id suggest you the P220...
