Question Complete newbie looking at SZ-R

I am a 20 year old college guy who has been FINALLY been allowed to get a bike. The problem is that though I have a license, I have never ridden a bike before. Only gearless scooters. I have been told that it only takes 2-3 days to get the hang of it if you can ride a scooter well. (Test ride is out of the option as I don’t have time to learn before I order it). I am looking at Yamaha SZ-R right now. Can u comment on my choice or suggest me a better one as per my requirements below.

Power – 150cc preferred
Budget – less than 70 k
Mileage – 50-60KMPL
Looks – Should have enough style quotient

Long distance journeys will be less as I am planning to use this mainly for city travel. My height too is a bit less (160 cm to be exact). I sat on the SZ-R. Was comfortable enough on it.

I don’t care for the digital stuff, but disc brakes are a must. Plus tubeless tires would be good.

I will be using this for only about 1.5 years. I will either give it to my bro or sell it off, so can I be assured of resale value. I know SZ series is new but I want to bank on the Yamaha name.

I am a complete noob when it comes to bikes, so please help me out. Thanks in advance!

Joe

Think about the CB Unicorn or an Apache RTR.

The apache is a very sharp handling vehicle, and the engine is good. (I'm too tall for it, so I didnt buy it) Considering your height, it should be a perfect fit. The service is slightly doubtful, but then again, it all depends on finding a good service station.

I suggest you take the bikes out for a test ride, try out all possible bikes over a week or so. No number of posts or replies will give you as much info as a test ride. What's even worse, you might find conflicting opinions, which will put your mind into a total state of confusion.

And remember, make the choice from your heart, going a little overbudget is okay if you seriously feel that the bike you've chosen is "your" bike.

The 150cc Bikes which have tubeless tyres are Dazzler,Hunk, & FZ series. Since you are not interested in Dazzler, you can try Hunk which is also a good bike.

As SZ R is a very very good byk ofrm yamaha..as there is two minus thing is there one is the resell value another one is tubeless tyre..for this two you can buy Honda Uni or HH Hunk..but still i say to you that it is a very good byk for a novice rider..you can refer the tharde also...'a new byk for a novice driver'

since you would be using it only for a year and a half, consider the baby pulsar too i.e. the pulsar 135. Its performance is as good/even better than some of the 150cc bikes and gives good mileage too.

if you want to bank in only on yamaha, go ahead and book the SZ-R. It won't disappoint you at all. Really good for city riding.

All my friends have adviced me against bajaj! I guess SZ-R is the way to go without tubeless (I can always change it cant I)... hopefully the resale val will be there by then...
