Question Pulsar-220 or Apache-RTR180, and few queries !!!

hi guys
I am planning to buy a bike and after some RnD, I was left with Apache 180 and Pulsar 220F to select from.

I am 5"6 and 56kg
I use the bike for daily commuting and my daily usage will be around 12kms, Budget is 90,000.

I rode Apache. It was good, has very good pickup but didn't felt comfortable with its riding posture, Yet to Test Drive Pulsar.

I got few doubts. I am listing them below. Please clarify

1. Is P220 engine Liquid cooled or Air cooled ? In Pulsar website, Key Features, it says as " the Pulsar 220F is equipped with an oil cooler for better engine cooling and"

2.I don't like the fairing, I can go for P220-S, but I dont want to miss the projector headlamp on 220F model.
After some usage, am thinking of modding by removing the "fairing" part and keeping those projector headlight.
Your thoughts on this ?

3.I read that rear disk break is not very effective. Is it so ?

4.Whats difference between P220-DTSi and P220-FI ? Isnt FI technology not embedded into present DTSi model. Any detail about this would be helpful ?

I rode RXZ, and presently riding RX-135 and I love to shoot away when signal goes green

Issues with A180 are its riding position and I personally feel it looks a bit small as compared to P220

Please get me out of this confusion and help me decide which is best

Cheers,
The RX-Guy

1. Oil cooled. Meaning the engine oil is passed through series of pipes which is cooled by air only, no separate liquid jacket sorrounding engine as in Liquid cooled engine.

2. Difficult to keep the projector w/o fairing. You may need to install projector separately. Members have done that.

3. I don;t find any issue with that.

4. Fi 220s are not available now. Only DTSi.

if u want the projector headlamp u can get it installed on the pulsar 220s as an aftermarket part...
but i personally prefer the rtr...dont worry about the riding stance u will get used to it after riding for a few days.....for traffic signal bursts i would any day take the apache over the 220........

So, how about taking P220-S and modding it with projector headlights later ? or even a full fairing ?
All Pulsars look alike and P220-S dont look anything different.

Default same dilemma...

i am in the same dilemma. I have Yamaha FZ series to add to the dilemma. I like riding the RTR160 but thinking whether should go for P220 just for the sheer CC factor.

How about skidding issues in the old apache. whether any member have experienced it in the new one?

regards,
Mitz

The RTR tyres are hard compound and hence tend to skid more than the normal MRF tyres. But the skidding you hear here at xbhp are more due to improper braking!

That's the reason for which I bought A180. The Riding position is more of "what you prefer". I've done around 500 kms in 13 Hrs straight, and I wasn't tired a bit!

The best bike for you would be FZ-S.

At your size and height the Apache RTR 180 would be a perfect fit.. but if you like the Pulsar 220 then go for it. For bikes are speed demons (in the desi context).

By the way any specefic reasons why you are not considering the Karizma R (it would also fall within your budget)?

That's a custom job (or at best a dealer mod job) and NOT a production model
