Default Quality Bike for Touring

i currently have a Pulsar 135. i plan to get a bike for touring. Will probably book it around Jan, so i need to have a very good idea of what i'm gonna do!

my main needs are

1. Long uninterrupted rides.
2. Decent comfort levels.
3. ability to do 120-140kms for hours together. at least 100+ would be good.
4. reliability!
5. a mileage of say 30kmpl!

The bikes i've shortlisted:

1. Pulsar 220

can it do 120s? I hear that reliability is questioned!

2. Yamaha R15

Good speeds and control. Sporty position might be troublesome i guess?

3. Avenger 220

Its been around for ages! Very comfortable! Cheap! Can it do 100+ all day?

4. Royal Enfield c350, c500

i have no idea about their cruising speeds. again reliability is a factor here.

5. CBR 250

It just doesnt catch my eye.. i dont know why...!

6. Kawak ninja 250!?

Would love to get it, but my hands are tied.. my budget is below 1.5lac

Any other suggestions will be welcome who knows, i might even stretch my budget to the Ninja 250

When I read the words, "touring" "comfy" "reliable" the first bike that comes to mind is the Karizma /R/ZMR. I should know, I had one for a while myself.

Really, the rest will not be as complete a package as the Karizma.

It matches and exceeds all your listed expectations, is within your budget, and you may only need to improve the stock lighting setup to make it a phenomenal tourer.

I have done 500-800 kms in varying conditions on multiple occasions in a day. I always ride at triple digit speeds. Mostly hovering around the 120 mark. No reliability issues ever. Out of the 22000kms my bike has done so far, 12000kms have been done on tours. Your requirements and my corresponding accomplishments -

1. Ridden Gurgaon-Kanpur 500kms in 6.25 hours without a break, without putting a foot down
2. I am just 24. So comfort is sufficient for me.
3. No ability to do 120-140, but easily possible to do 100-130kmph all day.
4. 2 years 22000 kms and no issues whatsoever.
5. city mileage of 40kmpl and highway mileage of 33kmpl on an average.

You got lots of time on your hands to make a good choice. Choose well.

All the best...

thanks man! the P220 seems to be the best deal so far..

if it can cruise at 120, i will be more than happy.

I'm planning to take a test drive sometime soon, will probably get some friend's ride and will test it out

My suggestions since I own a ZMA...its good at 80 - 90...feels a little stressed around 110(mine is 7 yrs old bike)...CBR is a good option but costly...P220 with projector headlights is VFM for nigt riding.

Well let me also point out that there are many minor niggles with the 220. Some of those problems can be easily sorted out with a few quick remedies, others you will have to learn to live with. If you get a friends bike ride it on the highway for 40-50kms at a go, so that you get a good idea of how she behaves.
If you do like the 220, then I would suggest buying the new pulsar, whenever it is launched. Which should not be a problem for you since in anycase you are planning to wait till jan.
