Default To buy my 1st Bike: Every penny & tip matters

Hey all,

I am very new to this forum (just following it since 3days) and came here when I began my search inorder to buy my 1st bike...and in these three days, have read quite a lot of threads and posts.... Must say you all are doing a great job here...by sharing your passion and your worries.. 1st of all thumbs up to all...

Now coming back to my worry... consider me a novice when it comes to technical infos of bikes..but I am about to strike off something that has been on my wishlist for quite sometime...my own bike...!! Been driving friend's since a long time...

Oki...so I need your help to decide which bike I should buy...

- my budget is very strict. 50k is arranged and ready, so lesser I have to spend above that is better...but checking out bikes within 70k
- need to travel a lot, mainly city travel...so need good mileage...
- have a good frame, broad physique, 6' height...so it shld suit my personality..
- and ya looks mai bindas ho...
- i change a lot of cities(one of the reasons i have not bought a bike yet), so the bike should a good resale value.

looking into both the 125cc and 150cc segment...dont like p150 or honda stunner..apache may nt b comfy fr me coz of my height...shine & gladiator don appeal to me...so they are to be ruled out...

read a lot of positive things about the suzuki GS here...but its 68k here in bangalore, is it really worth it...what about HH Hunk and xtreme against it, they are also a lil cheaper...

what about the new XCD 135, bajaj has been going GA-GA these days..

Quite frankly....right now I have no clue what should I buy...so all your suggestions will matter a lot...and help my choozze my baby

U have mentioned that mileage matters, but what figure do u expect?

U can go for the GS150R. It s the most fuel efficient of the current 150's. And it is definitely worth the money.

The XCD might not be very good for your physique... if you think the RTR would be small then XCD would be too... Never the less, test ride it and make sure that those stupid scoops won't touch your knees. Other than this you have already ruled out the 125 cc options you have. Why not the Gladiator? Also, how about the Discover 135?

If city mileage and resale are concerns, I am nto very sure but I gues syou can check the HH Glamour and even its Fi avatar.

150 CC bikes would make you stretch your budjet to the max - except for the Hero Honda Acheiver. GS150R is a good choice. Both of them are sure to give you about the best mileage in their class - what ever that number is.

Am I making things more complex for you? May be it is time for me to go to bed

I doub't GSR will have a good resale value. People are not comfortable buying a second hand Suzuki bike. I will say you should check out Discover 135. Hunk and Extreme are good too but check out their mileage figures. If you like then go with Hunk.

Honda Unicorn, I had the same requirements, It suits perfectly for your needs and Honda resales better than any other brand (though i dont think you will sell it )

I think the Honda Unicorn fits your requirements perfectly.

- Costs 65K on-road in Bangalore.
- Gives great mileage; about 55-60 kmpl in city, I've heard.
- It's pretty tall, so I think it'll suit your height perfectly
- Looks although not extremely good (personal preference), it still is pretty good!
- I think Honda and HH bikes have the best resale value!
